ELIZA.PANEK

Obszar działania Fundacji to blisko dwie trzecie powierzchni Polski.

Do zadań Fundacji należą:
– restytucja mienia dawnych gmin żydowskich (Fundacja działa tu jako pełnomocnik ZGWŻ) – synagog, cmentarzy i innych obiektów, które służyły działalności religijnej, edukacyjnej, charytatywnej i społecznej (na podst. Ust. z dn. 27.02.1997 o stosunku Państwa do Gmin Wyznaniowych Żydowskich, Dz. Ust. 41 poz. 251 ze zm.);
– zarządzanie odzyskanym mieniem;
– ochrona tych obiektów, które mają wyjątkowe znaczenie religijne lub historyczne.

Report is set to lay bare the scale of hate crimes against Jewish people.

Labour facing fresh anti-Semitism row as report is set to lay bare the scale of hate crimes against Jewish people for the first time

GLEN OWEN and MARTIN BECKFORD

  • Government is planning to release stand-alone figures for anti-Semitic offences
  • Jewish group Community Security Trust recorded 727 incidents first half of year
  • Corbyn supporter Frid Milani, 69, is accused of calling Lord Levy, a key ally of Tony Blair, a ‘Jewish pig’ and failed to show in court so is now facing arrest

The stand alone figures on anti-Semitic offences are part of a move to crack down on hate crime after a summer in which Mr Corbyn (pictured) himself was branded a ‘racist and anti-Semite’ by one of his own MPs

Bitter divisions over anti-Semitism in the Labour Party will be reopened by Ministers this week with official figures expected to show a rise in hate crimes against Jewish people.

In what Jeremy Corbyn’s supporters will perceive as a deliberate attempt to stoke rows within his party over the ‘racist’ behaviour of his supporters, the Government is planning to release stand-alone figures for anti-Semitic offences for the first time.

The move – part of a new drive to crack down on soaring hate crime – follows a summer in which a future Labour government was said to pose an ‘existential threat’ to British Jews, while Mr Corbyn himself was branded a ‘racist and anti-Semite’ by one of his own MPs.

Jewish safety group the Community Security Trust recorded 727 anti-Semitic incidents in the first half of 2018, including 34 that made specific reference to Labour.

However, the figures to be published this week are expected to provide more detail on the scale of the problem. The Mail on Sunday can also reveal that a Corbyn supporter is facing arrest after failing to appear in court to answer allegations that he branded a senior Labour figure a ‘Jewish pig’ and a ‘bloodsucker’.

Frid Milani, 69, is accused of telling Lord Levy, a key ally of former Labour Prime Minister Tony Blair, to ‘p*** off to Israel’ in an email on March 28.

The message allegedly read: ‘I see that you dare to criticise the Labour leader. Who the hell are you to comment on Jeremy Corbyn?

‘You are just another Jewish pig, bloodsucker living on taxpayers’ money. What are you doing in this country anyway?

‘Why don’t you p*** off to Israel? We don’t need Jewish bastards like you in this country.’

Mr Milani, who lives in Wembley, North-West London, was charged with sending a grossly offensive message, but failed to attend Westminster magistrates’ court last Wednesday.

Kerry Broome, prosecuting, said inquiries were being made at the defendant’s address, adding: ‘Police officers have attended. The blinds are shut, the property is locked, and there is no sign of any movement. Either Mr Milani is out or not willing to come to court. We cannot say which.’

She added: ‘Mr Milani refused to be interviewed on a number of occasions. Officers attended with a mobile recording device and he eventually consented to being interviewed but said nothing.’ Police also emailed Mr Milani, asking him to attend a police station for an interview.

‘He made further anti-Semitic remarks in one of the emails effectively suggesting he (the officer) was acting on the behest of the Jewish state,’ said the prosecutor.

Chief magistrate Emma Arbuthnot ordered Mr Milani be arrested and held in custody, adding: ‘I find that this defendant has not interacted with the police, in fact has insulted the officer.

‘I am satisfied that postal requisition has been sent to him at his address and also he has been avoiding the police. I will grant a warrant not backed for bail.’

Last night, Lord Levy, who raised more than £100 million for Labour during the Blair years and was Mr Blair’s personal envoy to the Middle East, said he was unable to comment for legal reasons.

Earlier this year, he criticised Labour for failing to combat anti-semitism within its ranks.

‘There has to be a zero-tolerance policy. Enough words,’ Lord Levy said. ‘They are just not taking this seriously.’

One of the Gazan Palestinians who blew a hole in the security fence and crossed the border into Israel on Friday was killed at point-blank after approaching a soldier with a knife, the military said early Sunday.

Seven Palestinians were killed in all and at least 252 were injured in intense clashes with Israeli security forces along the Gaza border on Friday afternoon and evening, the Hamas-run health ministry said.

In the most serious incident, in the south of the Strip, the Israel Defense Forces said several Gazans planted a bomb by the fence. After it exploded and blew a hole in the fence, some 20 Palestinians rushed through and ran toward Israeli soldiers stationed in a snipers’ nest.

Most of the Gazans pulled back and returned through the fence into the Strip after the soldiers fired warning shots into the air. However, several continued to move toward the soldiers, who fired at them, according to Sgt. Omer Kaplan, a field intelligence soldier who monitors the border through surveillance cameras.

The smoke from the explosion obstructed the view of the border and made it hard for Kaplan and the other lookouts to spot the Palestinians after they crossed.

“Under the cover of smoke and the violent disturbance, several suspects tried to approach an [Israeli] post, but I recognized them and informed the forces over the communications network and they fired warning shots at them,” she said, in a statement released by the IDF.

“Most of them doubled back, but I noticed that one remained in the area and we lost sight of him,” Kaplan said. “We did a reconstruction… in real time, and I told the forces that there was another terrorist [in the field]. One of the fighters spotted him and neutralized him.”

Major Ben Hallel, an officer in the Paratroopers Brigade who commanded the troops during the incident, said the Palestinian was armed with a knife and tried to attack a soldier, who opened fire at close range and killed him.

“We received a reports from the lookouts, saying that one of the terrorists remained in Israeli territory, just under where we were stationed. One of the soldiers, who was near the location, spotted the terrorist, who approached him with a knife,” Hallel said.

The military’s investigation of the incident found that the soldier called on the Palestinian to stop several times before shooting him, the Walla news site reported. The report said the IDF assessed that he intended to grab the soldier’s weapon.

The bodies of three Palestinians were taken back into the Strip by rioters, Hadashot TV news reported.

“This is a blatant terror attempt that was thwarted by IDF troops quickly and professionally which prevented a possible terror attack against civilians and IDF troops,” the IDF said Friday, noting the knife that was found at the scene.

The army said some 15,000 protesters hurled grenades, bombs, firebombs and rocks at Israeli forces at various locations along the border. Hadashot reported that for the first time soldiers were also being shot at with crossbows.

Troops responded with riot dispersal means and live fire, the army said.

In light of the bomb attack on the fence and the heavy rioting, Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman ordered a halt to the transfer of fuel into the Strip.

Riots along the Gaza border have increased in recent weeks, going from a weekly event to near nightly protests since Hamas halted indirect talks with Israel aimed at a ceasefire. The humanitarian crisis in the Strip, meanwhile, has worsened, while reconciliation talks with the Palestinian Authority have broken down.

Hamas, an Islamist terror group that rules the Gaza Strip and actively calls for Israel’s destruction, has created new units tasked with sustaining tensions along the border fence including during nighttime and early morning hours.

Almost every evening, thousands of Gazans have been gathering for violent demonstrations at the Erez crossing and elsewhere, in what is regarded by some as part of Hamas’s attempts to signal to Israel that it wants an economic solution to the Gaza Strip.

At least 140 Palestinians have been killed during protests since late March, according to AP figures. Hamas has acknowledged that dozens of the fatalities were its members.
