Israeli actress Gal Gadot will be starring in a new Showtime series

Israeli actress Gal Gadot will be starring in a new Showtime series about Hedy Lamarr. Lamarr, a Jewish Austrian native who became an American actress, created a prototype for a frequency-hopping signal during the Second World War that helped the Allies disrupt radio-controlled torpedoes. Gadot and her husband Yaron Varsano will also be the executive producers of the series.

Holocaust experts want to meet with Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg to discuss the social network’s unwillingness to automatically remove anti-Semitic and Holocaust denial posts. Among the signers are Simon Bentley, head of Yad Vashem UK; Peter Schafer from the Jewish Museum Berlin; Stephen D. Smith, executive director of the USC Shoah Foundation; and Laura Marks, chairwoman of the UK Holocaust Memorial Day Trust.

Nearly 600 rabbis from North America have signed an open letter calling on Orthodox rabbis in Israel to retract recent homophobic comments. The letter reads, “We join together to decry the rise of intolerance, discrimination and sinat chinam, baseless hatred, against the LGBTQ community in Israel.”

For the first time, a female pilot has been appointed to head an Israeli Air Force flight squadron operating surveillance aircrafts. Major G, whose first name is not provided due to security concerns, will command the 122nd Squadron, which takes part in covert aerial operations.
