Photo: StopAntisemitism\/Twitter.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Anti-Zionist protestors disrupted a panel on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict that was held on Thursday night at the City University of New York (CUNY) Graduate Center.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Handing out flyers accusing Israel of \u201coccupation,\u201d \u201ccensorship,\u201d and \u201cgenocide,\u201d the protestors caused so much raucous that the New York City Police Department (NYPD) arrived to escort them from the building, Academic Engagement Network (AEN) Executive Director and panelist for the event, titled \u201cA Conversation on the Language of the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict,\u201d Miriam Elman told&nbsp;<em>The Algemeiner&nbsp;<\/em>on Friday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Other panelists at the event included, Donna Robinson Divine, Professor of Jewish Studies at Smith College and Professor Asaf Romirowsky, executive director of Scholars for Peace in the Middle East.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cThey rose up en masse and came in front of the podium and started shrieking,\u201d Elman said. \u201cIt was very loud and they screaming slogans. And the audience didn\u2019t just sit there. They were screaming right back. Later, NYPD [New York City Police Department] came into the room and escorted them out.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cWe lost fifteen minutes of the presentation of the event,\u201d she continued. \u201cIt\u2019s unacceptable.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">The City University of New York (CUNY) is the subject of a new Title VI complaint with the US Department of Education alleging that it has intentionally ignored \u201ca sustained pattern of antisemitism.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Filed in July by the American Center for Law &amp; Justice (ACLJ), it follows accusations of antisemitism at CUNY campuses aired during a New York City Council&nbsp;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #000080; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.algemeiner.com\/2022\/06\/30\/new-york-city-council-press-cuny-officials-on-pervasive-campus-antisemitism-in-hearing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">hearing on the issue last month<\/a>,<\/strong><\/span> held after the CUNY School of Law faculty endorsed a boycott of Israel.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">The complaint recounted a number of alleged incidents at CUNY going as far back as 2013, including Jewish faculty and students having their property vandalized, receiving threats and verbal abuse, and being held responsible for actions of the Israeli government.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">It also discussed a 2021&nbsp;<a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.algemeiner.com\/2021\/06\/14\/cuny-faculty-union-resolution-accusing-israel-of-massacre-of-palestinians-passes-by-wide-margin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>r<\/strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>esolution<\/strong><\/span><\/a>&nbsp;passed by the public university system\u2019s faculty union accusing Israel of practicing apartheid, a measure that prompted the resignations of a number of Jewish members, as well as the more recent boycott effort endorsed at the law school.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Several episodes described in the ACLJ brief were raised at the&nbsp;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #000080; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.algemeiner.com\/2022\/06\/30\/new-york-city-council-press-cuny-officials-on-pervasive-campus-antisemitism-in-hearing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">City Council hearing<\/a><\/strong><\/span>&nbsp;in June, where lawmakers lamented the absence of CUNY Chancellor Felix Matos Rodr\u00edguez and called the problem of antisemitism at CUNY \u201cpervasive.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">CUNY has maintained that it \u201chas consistently and strongly condemned all forms of bigotry and discrimination, including antisemitism,\u201d and that it complies with all relevant regulations when reporting incidents.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr style=\"height: 15px; background: #d0e6fa; width: 100%;\">\n<div id=\"content\" class=\"content-alignment\">\n<div id=\"watch-description\" class=\"yt-uix-button-panel\">\n<div id=\"watch-description-text\" style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p><em>Zawarto\u015b\u0107 publikowanych artyku\u0142\u00f3w i materia\u0142\u00f3w nie reprezentuje pogl\u0105d\u00f3w ani opinii Reunion&#8217;68,<\/em><em><br \/>\nani te\u017c webmastera Blogu Reunion&#8217;68, chyba ze jest to wyra\u017anie zaznaczone.<br \/>\nTwoje uwagi, linki, w\u0142asne artyku\u0142y lub wiadomo\u015bci prze\u015blij na adres:<br \/>\n<\/em><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong><em><a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"mailto:webmaster@reunion68.com\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">webmaster@reunion68.com<\/span><\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<hr style=\"width: 100%;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Anti-Zionist Protestors Disrupt CUNY Event on Israeli-Palestinian Conflict Dion J.
