The Baltimore County Police Department (BCPD) last weekend received several reports that antisemitic flyers were dropped across the Parkville section of the city, a local CBS affiliate\u00a0reported<\/a>\u00a0on Tuesday.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThese flyers are basically an attempt to intimidate and harass the Jewish community, Jewish residents,\u201d Howard Libit, executive director of the Baltimore Jewish Council told WJZ, adding that he believes the flyers are related to a \u201cday of hate\u201d neo-Nazis participated in last weekend. \u201cI know a lot of synagogues added an extra guard, added an extra precaution, spent more time thinking about security.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

On Wednesday, StopAntisemitism, a nonprofit that documents domestic and international incidents of antisemitism,\u00a0said<\/a>\u00a0it identified the flyers as those previously distributed by a group calling itself the Goyim Defense League (GDL).<\/span><\/p>\n

GDL\u2019s recent activities include dropping flyers at a Daytona 500 speedway race that took place on Feb. 18-19. The group also displayed banners\u00a0denouncing<\/a>\u00a0the Jewish people. One of them said \u201cHenry Ford was right about the Jews\u201d while another said \u201ccommunism is Jewish,\u201d a slogan reminiscent of those used by the Nazi Party during Hitler\u2019s rise to power in the late Weimar Republic.<\/span><\/p>\n

A Parkville resident, Paul Simpson, told WJZ that he found the flyers GDL left at his home on Saturday morning.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s disturbing,\u201d he said. \u201cI don\u2019t like this kind of hate speech.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
