JNS publishes a weekly listing of antisemitic incidents recorded by Jewish, pro-Jewish and pro-Israel organizations, as well as international news media. By the Anti-Defamation League\u2019s count, an average of seven instances of varying<\/a> measure occur daily in the United States. (Dates refer to when the news was reported, not when the events took place.)<\/span><\/p>\n

July 15<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Netherlands approved<\/a> a new law with penalties of up to a year in prison for those who deny, trivialize or condone the Holocaust or other genocides.<\/span><\/p>\n

July 16<\/strong><\/p>\n

Saudi Arabia has re<\/a>m<\/a>oved<\/a> certain antisemitic material from its textbooks.<\/span><\/p>\n

July 17<\/strong><\/p>\n

In Toledo, Ohio, neo-Nazis<\/a> waved a large swastika flag and harrassed participants at an LGBTQ event. A Florida woman told<\/a> the Combat Antisemitism Movement about an antisemitic assault that she experienced in March; police are investigating. A man from Newburgh, N.Y., tore<\/a> down a poster stating \u201cJews have a history of false flag terror attacks.\u201d The presidential campaign of rapper Ye (Kanye West)\u2014propelled with a series<\/a> of antisemitic statements in the fall of 2022\u2014has only $23,142 on hand and received no donations from this April to the end of June, according to a report<\/a>. (Per reports, Ye political operative Milo Yiannopoulos repaid his former boss, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga. $7,020.16 after using her campaign credit card to register Ye24.com.)<\/span><\/p>\n

July 18<\/strong><\/p>\n

The prosecution and defense offered<\/a> opening statements in the final phase of the trial of Robert Bowers, the convicted Pittsburgh synagogue shooter. A new British government report<\/a> states that \u201cthe primary domestic terrorist threat comes from Islamist terrorism, which accounts for approximately 67% of attacks since 2018, about three-quarters of MI5 caseload and 64% of those in custody for terrorism-connected offenses.\u201d Among the claims that the BBC<\/em> has heard\u2014from more than 100 former McDonald\u2019s employees alleging sexual assault, bullying and racism\u2014was a current worker<\/a> in Essex alleging antisemitism. The Nation of Islam mourns the death of an influential<\/a> figure in the antisemitic group who mentored Louis Farrakhan. Kentucky authorities discovered<\/a> the body of an unidentified man with Aryan Nation and swastika tattoos. In the Philippines, swastikas are reportedly being displayed<\/a> on vehicles.<\/span><\/p>\n

July 19<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jurors are determining if the Pittsburgh synagogue shooter is \u201ctruly the worst of the worst and therefore deserving of the death penalty,\u201d wrote the Associated Press<\/em>. In Rhode Island, a little league facility was vandalized<\/a> with a spray-painted swastika, as was a rock<\/a> in Newburgh, N.Y. TikTok banned a user who posted antise<\/a>m<\/a>itic<\/a> videos of himself harassing London Jews. The environmentalist group Just Stop Oil<\/a> faces criticism<\/a> after comparing petroleum company leaders to Nazis. Despite many independent analyses that suggest the opposite, Twitter claims<\/a> that \u201chate-speech impressions\u201d have fallen 30% compared to when Elon Musk took over in 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n

July 20<\/strong><\/p>\n

An expert witness for the defense in the Pittsburgh trial said<\/a> the defendant has faced \u201ca life with a lot of adversity.\u201d In Florida, someone threw<\/a> a brick, painted with a swastika, through a Chabad center window. In Australia, a school system faces<\/a> allegations of antisemitic bullying and abuse. In Finland, police say that a neo-Nazi group under investigation<\/a> used a 3D printer to manufacture guns for a \u201crace war.\u201d In Oregon, police are searching<\/a> for someone who painted a neon-green swastika on a car hood. Just Stop Oil doubled down<\/a> on calling oil executives Nazis; Campaign Against Antisemitism responded<\/a>, \u201cJust stop trivializing the Holocaust.\u201d Ice Cube claims<\/a> that fellow rap icon Ye \u201cunderstands that generalizing will always get you in more hot water than being very specific,\u201d and that the former billionaire mogul had \u201clearned a lot from this past year.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

July 21<\/strong><\/p>\n

Hannah Pearl Davies, a \u201csocial-media personality\u201d known for her anti-feminism, released<\/a> a song that\u2019s being perceived as antisemitic. In Albany, a city council member made antisemitic comments<\/a> during a council meeting. In Tasmania, a Chabad rabbi requested<\/a> that a city council remove swastikas graffitied on an underpass. The Foundation to Combat Antisemitism established by billionaire philanthropist Robert Kraft partnered with billionaire hip-hop mogul Jay-Z\u2019s The Shawn Carter Foundation on an initiative<\/a> to fight rising book-banning. \u201cBooks that depict the atrocities of the Holocaust, such as Maus<\/em> by Art Spiegelman and Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl<\/em>, have recently been banned for their teachings,\u201d per a release. \u201cIn Missouri, school districts also banned Holocaust history books and books written by Jewish authors.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
