Photo: Chrisallmeid via Wikimedia Commons<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Rapper Cardi B caused an uproar on social media for tweeting \u2014 and then deleting \u2014 a photo of two Hasidic Jewish men shortly after learning that she would not be charged for an incident that took place during her recent concert.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">The Grammy-winning&nbsp;singer threw her microphone into the crowd at her July 29 performance in Las Vegas after someone threw a drink at her on stage, as seen in videos shared on social media. A woman who said she was hit with the microphone filed a police report for battery but the&nbsp;Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said in a statement on Thursday that due to \u201cinsufficient evidence,\u201d no charges will be filed against the rapper, whose real name is Belcalis Marlenis Alm\u00e1nzar.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">After police made the announcement, Cardi B&nbsp;<a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Ostrov_A\/status\/1687311821177262080\/photo\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">tweeted<\/a>&nbsp;the exact picture that appears for the Wikipedia&nbsp;<a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jewish_religious_clothing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">entry<\/a>&nbsp;\u201cJewish religious clothing.\u201d The photo shows two Hasidic men walking in Borough Park, a religious neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York, while wearing traditional Hasidic clothing and accessories such as a&nbsp;<em>shtreimel&nbsp;<\/em>hat,&nbsp;<em>tallit,<\/em>&nbsp;a long black suit and a belt known as a&nbsp;<em>gartel.<\/em>&nbsp;Cardi B simply&nbsp;<a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Ostrov_A\/status\/1687311821177262080\/photo\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">wrote<\/a>&nbsp;in the photo\u2019s caption \u201cRemember \u2026\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">The Twitter post may be related to her 2018 song&nbsp;<em>Bickenheld,<\/em>&nbsp;which includes the lyrics: \u201cLawyer is a Jew, he gon\u2019 chew up all the charges.\u201d Cardi B\u2019s legal team that took care of the battery charge in Las Vegas reportedly included multiple Jewish attorneys and \u201cLawyer is a Jew\u201d was&nbsp;<a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BarzFan\/status\/1687240372974505984\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">trending<\/a>&nbsp;on Twitter in the US following the rapper\u2019s tweet.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">The&nbsp;<em>Bodak Yellow<\/em>&nbsp;singer shortly after deleted the photo from her Twitter account and while she may have been trying to applaud her Jewish lawyers with the post, many took offense to the photo. Jewish writer Eve Barlow&nbsp;<a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Eve_Barlow\/status\/1687252345359585281?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said<\/a>&nbsp;the rapper \u201cincited violence against one of America\u2019s most vulnerable visible communities \u2013 Orthodox Jewish people, because she believes that we Jews all look the same and have all the power.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">\u201cAppreciate you&nbsp;<\/span><span class=\"r-18u37iz\">@iamcardib&nbsp;<\/span>but tweeting out a vague picture of a visible minority that has been subject to rising hate crimes in NYC to your 31 million followers is just not acceptable,\u201d&nbsp;<a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DBashIdeas\/status\/1687253245192740864\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">tweeted<\/a>&nbsp;Dovid Bashevkin, director of education for the Jewish youth movement NCSY. \u201cWhen hate is an option don\u2019t leave anyone guessing what you meant \u2026 If you want to show gratitude to your Jewish legal counsel then clearly write it to your 31 million followers.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">International human rights lawyer&nbsp;<\/span><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 css-1hf3ou5 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\"><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">Arsen Ostrovsky added:&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">\u201cWords have consequences.&nbsp;<\/span>Antisemitism and violence against Jews in America, is already at an all-time high.
