Source: YouTube\/Columbia University.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">The past two weeks are among \u201cthe most difficult in Columbia\u2019s history,\u201d the university\u2019s president Minouche Shafik said in a video released on Friday evening.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cThe turmoil and tension, division and disruption have impacted the entire community. You, our students, have paid an especially high price,\u201d the Columbia University president said. \u201cYou lost your final days in the classroom and residence halls. For those of you who are seniors, you\u2019re finishing college the way you started: online.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Columbia should be welcoming to and safe for everyone \u201cno matter where you stand on any issue,\u201d Shafik said.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cWe tried very hard to resolve the issue of the encampment through dialogue.
