Several Israeli radio stations announced they will no longer play songs by\u00a0former Pink Floyd frontman Roger Waters\u00a0after he denied\u00a0Hamas terrorists carried out sexual violence against their victims during the Oct. 7 attacks in a recent\u00a0interview with Piers Morgan, Ynet reported on Thursday.<\/span><\/p>\n

Waters appeared on the talk show \u201cPiers Morgan Uncensored\u201d on Tuesday and\u00a0claimed<\/a>\u00a0there is \u201cno evidence\u201d that Hamas terrorists sexually assaulted some of its victims on Oct. 7, despite widely corroborated\u00a0proof<\/a>\u00a0to the contrary, confirmation by the United Nations, and\u00a0first-hand testimonies from former Hamas hostages<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAll the filthy disgusting lies that the Israelis told after Oct. 7 about burning babies and women being raped \u2014 no they weren\u2019t,\u201d Waters said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Morgan fired back, \u201cActually women were raped. It\u2019s been\u00a0established by the United Nations<\/a>. There is extensive evidence of assault and rape.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

However, Waters replied, \u201cYou can say anything you want [but] there is no evidence.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

A day after Rogers\u2019 interview with Morgan aired, Hagit Pe\u2019er \u2014 the president of NA\u2019AMAT, the largest women\u2019s organization in Israel \u2014 urged radio stations in the country to stop broadcasting songs by the singer. \u201cWe believe that a reputable and fair-minded radio station should take a stand against the harmful statements made by Mr. Waters,\u201d Pe\u2019er wrote in\u00a0a letter<\/a>\u00a0sent to radio stations on Wednesday. \u201cThe appropriate course of action would be to refrain from playing his music until he acknowledges and apologizes for his deceptive and inflammatory remarks.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Some Israeli radio stations agreed to adhere to Pe\u2019er\u2019s request, Ynet\u00a0reported<\/a>.\u00a0Noam Cohen Gefen, who owns an Israeli radio station, told the Israeli publication: \u201cSince the beginning of the war, and with\u00a0Waters\u2019 previous statements, we have almost completely stopped playing Pink Floyd\u2019s songs, and they were put on air only as part of dedications and requests. We were shocked by the interview and will not play his songs in the foreseeable future.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Israel\u2019s two leading\u00a0radio stations, Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation\u2019s Kan and the Army Radio, did not announce a clear decision regarding the matter, but anonymous sources confirmed to Ynet that both will not play Rogers\u2019 songs in the near future.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

NA\u2019AMAT USA, the American branch of the women\u2019s nonprofit organization, supported the call to boycott Waters\u2019 music on Israeli radio stations. \u201cWe believe Israeli women. Hate-filled denials of the sexual violence targeting them on Oct. 7 should not be platformed anywhere,\u201d NA\u2019AMAT USA said. \u201cWe are grateful to NA\u2019AMAT Israel President Hagit Pe\u2019er for standing up for Israeli women. It is their voices that should be heard. NA\u2019AMAT USA (formerly Pioneer Women) has supported Israeli women since 1925 and remains deeply dedicated to that mission today.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Waters was outspoken against Israel and accused of outright antisemitism long before the Hamas atrocities of Oct. 7.<\/span><\/p>\n

Last year, an explosive documentary showed fellow musicians detailing\u00a0Waters\u2019 long record of anti-Jewish barbs<\/a>. In one instance, a former colleague recalled Waters at a restaurant yelling at the wait staff to \u201ctake away the Jew food.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
