Photo: Adidas<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Supermodel Bella Hadid broke her silence on Monday about being featured in a&nbsp;<a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.algemeiner.com\/2024\/07\/18\/adidas-accused-embracing-jew-hatred-featuring-anti-israel-model-bella-hadid-new-campaign-tied-munich-massacre\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">controversial Adidas campaign<\/a>&nbsp;that referenced the 1972 massacre at the Munich Olympics, where 11 Israelis were murdered by Palestinian terrorists.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cFor those of you that do not know my heart, I want to make sure you\u2019re hearing directly from me about my recent campaign with Adidas,\u201d she began by saying in a lengthy statement posted on her Instagram Story. The founder of the Orebella perfume, who is also an avid critic of the state of Israel, added that she \u201cwould never knowingly engage with any art or work that is linked to a horrific tragedy of any kind.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cIn advance of the campaign\u2019s release, I had no knowledge of the historical connection to the atrocious events in 1972,\u201d she explained. \u201cI am shocked, I am upset, and I am disappointed in the lack of sensitivity that went into this campaign. Had I been made aware, from the bottom of my heart, I would never have participated. My team should have known, Adidas should have known, and I should have done more research so that I too would have known and understood, and spoken up.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Earlier this month, Adidas released a new campaign, featuring Hadid, for its iconic SL 72 sneaker. The sneaker was originally released in 1972 and used that year by athletes at the Munich Olympic Games, where the Palestinian terrorist group Black September murdered 11 members of Israel\u2019s Olympic team after taking them hostage.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Hadid has&nbsp;<a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.algemeiner.com\/2022\/03\/23\/supermodel-bella-hadid-says-call-to-free-palestine-from-river-to-sea-was-about-israel-not-judaism\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">participated in anti-Israel rallies<\/a>&nbsp;where she chanted \u201cFrom the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,\u201d which calls for the destruction of the Jewish state and for it to be replaced with a Palestinian state from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea. She has previously accused Israel of \u201ccolonization, ethnic cleansing, military occupation, and apartheid over the Palestinian people.\u201d She has&nbsp;<a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.algemeiner.com\/2024\/05\/24\/model-bella-hadid-wears-keffiyeh-dress-cannes-support-free-palestine-forever\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">advocated<\/a>&nbsp;for a \u201cFree Palestine,\u201d and since the start of the Israel-Hamas war, she has repeatedly&nbsp;<a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.algemeiner.com\/2023\/10\/27\/bella-hadid-condemns-hamas-while-remaining-pro-palestine-calling-humanitarian-aid-gaza\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">expressed solidarity<\/a>&nbsp;with Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">After Adidas was criticized for choosing the&nbsp;<a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.algemeiner.com\/2022\/03\/23\/supermodel-bella-hadid-says-call-to-free-palestine-from-river-to-sea-was-about-israel-not-judaism\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">anti-Israel model<\/a>&nbsp;as a face of the new campaign, the German sportswear company pulled her from the project. Adidas also issued two apologies regarding the matter \u2014 one&nbsp;<a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.algemeiner.com\/2024\/07\/22\/adidas-apologizes-anti-israel-model-bella-hadid-pulling-her-sneaker-campaign-backlash\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">directed at Hadid herself<\/a>&nbsp;\u2014 and said it would \u201crevise\u201d its campaign. Hadid had not commented on the ordeal until Monday. She said in the statement on her Instagram Story that she \u201calways will speak up for what I believe to be wrong.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cWhile everyone\u2019s intentions were to make something positive, and bring people together through art, the collective lack of understanding from all parties undermined the process,\u201d she said of the Adidas campaign. \u201cI do not believe in hate in any form, including antisemitism. That will never waiver, and I stand by that statement to the fullest extent.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cConnecting the liberation of the Palestinian people to an attack so tragic is something that hurts my heart. Palestine is not synonymous with terrorism, and this campaign unintentionally highlighted an event that does not present who we are,\u201d she continued. The model concluded by saying that she is a \u201cproud Palestinian woman\u201d who \u201cwill forever stand by my people of Palestine while continuing to advocate for a world free of antisemitism.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cAntisemitism has no place in the liberation of the Palestinian people,\u201d she said. \u201cI will always stand for peace over violence, any day.
