Photo: USA TODAY NETWORK via Reuters Connect<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Jewish Mexican-American entrepreneur Daniel Lubetzky announced on Wednesday that after five seasons as a recurring guest investor on ABC\u2019s \u201cShark Tank,\u201d he will become a regular \u201cshark\u201d on the show when its new season premieres in October.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Lubetzky, the founder of the KIND snack company who is also the son of a Holocaust survivor, will replace billionaire Jewish American entrepreneur and Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, who announced last year that he will leave the show after season 16. Lubetzky is the first new regular cast member to join the show in over a decade. The \u201cShark Tank\u201d panel of series regular investors includes Barbara Corcoran, Lori Greiner, Robert Herjavec, Daymond John, and Kevin O\u2019Leary.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cIt\u2019s an honor to be part of a production that continues to educate, entertain, and unite Americans behind the spirit of building together,\u201d Lubetzky said in a released&nbsp;<a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DAEhM25vwmd\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">statement<\/a>&nbsp;about joining the \u201cShark Tank\u201d team. \u201cI am so excited to be part of this fun, hilarious, exceptionally smart cast and crew. Most of all, I am looking forward to partnering with entrepreneurs from all walks of life as they come to \u2018Shark Tank\u2019 for their chance to realize the American dream.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">He added that he hopes his Jewish Mexican mother Sonia is \u201cproud\u201d of him and that his late father Roman, who&nbsp;<a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/daniellubetzky\/p\/CeMDu1wLh-Z\/?img_index=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">survived<\/a>&nbsp;the Dachau concentration camp in Germany during the Holocaust, \u201cis looking from above and seeing not just what I\u2019ve achieved but how I\u2019ve achieved it \u2014 by trying my very best to always follow the values he taught me.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Lubetzky&nbsp;<a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo.php?fbid=324009152868987&amp;id=100057797149842&amp;set=a.153615113241726\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">shared<\/a>&nbsp;in 2021 that his mother was raised in Tampico, \u201ca cattle-ranching region in Mexico, where her family was one of only a handful of Jewish families.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cShe\u2019s always had an extra sensibility about her responsibility to be an ambassador of the Jewish people,\u201d he said. \u201cI admire the ways in which she helps our family preserve both our Jewish \u2014 and Mexican \u2014 values and traditions.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Lubetzky was born in 1968 and raised in Mexico City, where he was taught Hebrew, English, Spanish, and Yiddish. He moved to the US with his family when he was a teenager but studied abroad in Israel during his college years. At Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, his 268-page thesis was titled, \u201cThe Influence of Economic Factors in Resolving the Arab-Israeli Conflict.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Lubetzky founded the KIND company in 2004. He sold a minority stake to the candy giant Mars in 2017 and sold the&nbsp;<a class=\"color-link\" style=\"color: #000080;\" title=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/angelauyeung\/2020\/11\/17\/billionaires-united-candy-maker-mars-to-acquire-kind-bars-in-5-billion-deal\/\" href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/angelauyeung\/2020\/11\/17\/billionaires-united-candy-maker-mars-to-acquire-kind-bars-in-5-billion-deal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ga-track=\"InternalLink:https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/angelauyeung\/2020\/11\/17\/billionaires-united-candy-maker-mars-to-acquire-kind-bars-in-5-billion-deal\/\" aria-label=\"entire company\">entire company<\/a>&nbsp;to Mars in 2020 in a deal reportedly worth $5 billion. In 2002, he founded OneVoice Movement, which is a grassroots movement that amplifies the voices of Israeli and Palestinian activists with the vision for \u201can independent and viable Palestine and a secure Israel free from conflict.\u201d He is also the founder of&nbsp;<a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"https:\/\/peaceworks.com\/aboutUs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">PeaceWorks Inc.<\/a>, a business that fosters cooperative ventures among neighbors in the Middle East.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">In October 2023, shortly after the deadly Hamas terrorist attacks in southern Israel, Lubetkzy&nbsp;<a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"https:\/\/stanforddaily.com\/2023\/12\/06\/kind-ceo-and-human-rights-activist-daniel-lubetzky-works-for-a-two-state-solution\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">talked<\/a>&nbsp;about being affected by the Israel-Hamas war.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cI literally have not been sleeping over the last two, three weeks because we\u2019ve lost a lot of our family and friends to this war,\u201d Lubetzky said in an interview in October. \u201cWe have Palestinian and Israeli staff and colleagues whose lives have been impacted. We have Palestinian staff in Gaza that we\u2019ve been trying to evacuate, but Hamas has blocked the exits and prevented them from leaving.
