Photo by Haim Zach\/GPO.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">U.S. President Donald Trump invited Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to visit the White House on Feb. 4, the Prime Minister\u2019s Office stated on Tuesday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">The reported visit wasn\u2019t mentioned at the Trump administration\u2019s first White House press briefing on Tuesday, and the administration hasn\u2019t commented on it publicly.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) told JNS that he is \u201cvery glad to see my friend Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the leader of Israel and our greatest ally in the Middle East, slated as the first state visit to Trump\u2019s White House.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cI look forward to working with President Trump and the prime minister on securing the release of the hostages and continuing the strategic objectives to secure the region,\u201d Scott said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Former President Joe Biden\u00a0<a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jns.org\/at-white-house-meeting-netanyahu-thanks-biden-for-50-years-of-support\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">invited<\/a>\u00a0Netanyahu to the White House for the first time of his tenure on July 25, 2024\u2014some 20 months after Netanyahu was re-elected in November 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">David May, research manager and a senior research analyst at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, told JNS that \u201cBiden and Trump started their presidencies at very different points of Israeli politics.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cWhen Biden took office, Israel was in the middle of a political impasse, and Bibi didn\u2019t return to office until two years into Biden\u2019s term. Trump started his second term with Israel at war against genocidal enemies,\u201d May said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cThat being said, the immediate invitation is a strong indication of the importance Trump and his team place on the U.S.-Israel relationship,\u201d May told JNS. \u201cTrump has started his term with several moves that help Israel and a return to not having daylight between the two allies in public.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Rep.
