Iran announced Friday that it will not engage in nuclear talks with the United States, rejecting a two-week deadline<\/a> set by US President Donald Trump for renewed negotiations aimed at resolving the ongoing standoff over Tehran\u2019s nuclear program.<\/span><\/p>\n

In a televised speech, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi condemned what he described as Washington\u2019s \u201ccomplicity in the Israeli regime\u2019s war of aggression against Iran,\u201d and slammed recent US military strikes<\/a> as a betrayal of diplomacy and a blow to any prospects for dialogue.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAmericans want to negotiate and have sent messages several times, but we clearly said that as long as [the Israeli] aggression doesn\u2019t stop, there\u2019s no place for dialogue,\u201d the top Iranian diplomat said in an address on state television.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cNo agreement has been made on the restart of negotiations. There has not even been any talk of negotiations,\u201d Araghchi continued. \u201cThe subject of negotiations is out of question at present.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

However, he reassured that Tehran remains committed to diplomacy<\/a>, but the decision to resume negotiations with Washington must be carefully evaluated.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt is still early to say that the conditions are right for negotiations,\u201d Araghchi said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Trump said he would consider carrying out further strikes on Iran if US intelligence reveals new concerns about the country\u2019s uranium enrichment program.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSure, without question, absolutely,\u201d Trump said Friday during a press briefing when asked if a second wave of bombings was possible.<\/span><\/p>\n

During his speech, he also addressed the recent American and Israeli strikes on Iran\u2019s nuclear facilities, acknowledging that the damage was significant<\/a> but adding that the regime is still assessing its full extent.<\/span><\/p>\n

For its part, US intelligence officials have reported that Tehran\u2019s nuclear sites were \u201cseverely damaged\u201d during the American airstrikes last weekend.<\/span><\/p>\n

Araghchi\u2019s comments came as he met on Friday with his counterparts from Britain, France, Germany, and the European Union\u2019s Foreign Policy Chief Kaja Kallas in Geneva \u2014 marking their first meeting since the Iran-Israel war began.<\/span><\/p>\n

Europe is actively urging Iran to reengage in talks<\/a> with the White House in an effort to avert any further escalation of tensions.<\/span><\/p>\n

In a post on X, Araghchi also announced that Iran may reject any requests by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the UN nuclear watchdog, to visit the country\u2019s nuclear sites<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

He said this latest decision was \u201ca direct result of [IAEA Director-General, Rafael Grossi]\u2019s regrettable role in obfuscating the fact that the Agency \u2014 a full decade ago \u2014 already closed all past issues.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThrough this malign action, he directly facilitated the adoption of a politically-motivated resolution against Iran<\/a> by the IAEA BoG [Board of Governors] as well as the unlawful Israeli and US bombings of Iranian nuclear sites,\u201d the Iranian top diplomas said in a post on X.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIn an astounding betrayal of his duties, Grossi has additionally failed to explicitly condemn such blatant violations of IAEA safeguards and its Statute,\u201d Araghchi continued. <\/span><\/p>\n
