Photo by Yonatan Sindel\/Flash90.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Right-wing Israeli groups protested outside the weekly Cabinet meeting in Jerusalem on Sunday, calling on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to resist pressure to include a \u201cpathway to a Palestinian state\u201d in a Gaza peace plan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">The protest\u2014led by the Sovereignty Movement, the Tekuma Movement and other NGOs advocating for Jerusalem to keep control of Judea and Samaria\u2014included coalition lawmakers and activists,&nbsp;<em>Israel National News<\/em>&nbsp;reported.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cIsrael cannot entrust its security borders to hostile elements. Only sovereignty\u2014full control from the [Mediterranean] Sea to the Jordan [River]\u2014will secure the state\u2019s future,\u201d according to the Sovereignty Movement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cInstead of paving the way to a terror state threatening the heart of the nation, we must advance the vision of sovereignty,\u201d the group stated. \u201cTogether, we will ring the bell outside the government meeting.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Religious Zionism Party lawmaker Ohad Tal, who participated in the rally, told JNS: \u201cI urge Prime Minister Netanyahu to state clearly that Israel opposes the establishment of a Palestinian state\u2014now or in the future, under any conditions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cA Palestinian state poses an existential threat to Israel. Photo by Yonatan Sindel\/Flash90.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">In a joint statement arranged by the United States on Nov. 14, eight nations working toward ending the war against Hamas terrorism in Gaza expressed support for Washington\u2019s proposed International Stabilization Force that is expected to provide security in the Strip.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">According to the statement, signed by Qatar, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Jordan and Turkey, the process also \u201coffers a pathway to Palestinian self-determination and statehood.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">The joint statement appeared to go further than President Donald Trump\u2019s 20-point peace plan, which Jerusalem has approved, by not leaving Palestinian statehood up for debate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Religious Zionism lawmaker Simcha Rothman, who spoke at the rally, told JNS the gathering served as a \u201ccall for the government, the prime minister and the Cabinet ministers to move forward on the path to sovereignty, because the Knesset has already stated this is the way to go.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Rothman referenced the Knesset\u2019s July 2024&nbsp;<a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jns.org\/knesset-votes-99-11-against-unilateral-recognition-of-pal-state\/\">resolution<\/a>, which passed by a wide majority and opposed unilateral international recognition of a Palestinian state.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cOur call is to make this an urgent task for the government and not postpone it, because while I don\u2019t believe a Palestinian state is an imminent danger, if we aren\u2019t proactive and don\u2019t advance sovereignty, we will find ourselves confronting what the U.N. Security Council described as a pathway to Palestinian self-determination and a Palestinian state,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cIf we want to prevent that, we must act on the ground \u2014 as [Finance Minister Bezalel] Smotrich is doing by building 50 new communities, and roads and farms [in Judea and Samaria]\u2014but it\u2019s not enough.
