(credit: Amir Hamja\/Pool via REUTERS)<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">During the public swearing-in ceremony on the steps of City Hall, Mamdani vowed to enact an aggressive agenda aimed at making the nation&#8217;s largest city more affordable for working people.<\/span><\/p>\n<section class=\"article-paragraph-wrap\">\n<section class=\"article-body-paragraph article-body-paragraph \"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Mamdani\u2019s journey to becoming mayor has not been without controversy, most notably because of his&nbsp;<a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/diaspora\/article-882074\">strongly anti-Israel, pro-Palestine stance and rhetoric<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 something that the Jewish community fears may manifest in increased antisemitism on the ground.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"article-paragraph-wrap\">\n<section class=\"article-body-paragraph article-body-paragraph \"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Two-thirds of NYC\u2019s Jews did not vote for Mamdani, and many have expressed explicit concern about the new mayor\u2019s actions. A November edition of JPPI\u2019s Voice of the Jewish People Index showed that 67% of US Jews believe Mamdani\u2019s victory will endanger New York\u2019s Jews.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/section>\n<section class=\"article-paragraph-wrap\">\n<section class=\"article-body-paragraph article-body-paragraph \"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Additionally, a December ADL report found that 20% of Mamdani\u2019s administrative appointees have ties to anti-Zionist groups. Some have even justified Hamas\u2019s actions or celebrated the October 7 attacks.
