Photo: REUTERS\/Susannah Ireland<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">An art exhibition that opened this weekend in Margate, a seaside town in England, features nearly 100 drawings that promote antisemitic tropes, feature swastikas, target Jewish or Israeli individuals, and deny violence that took place during the Hamas-led terrorist attack in Israel on Oct. 7, 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cDrawings Against Genocide\u201d at the Joseph Wales Studios will be open until March 29 and is organized by the groups Art for a Free Palestine and Thanet for Palestine. The artist behind the drawings is Matthew Collings, a 70-year-old writer and former art critic who has been openly critical of Israel. There are roughly 100 drawings in the exhibit critical of Israel, Jews, the \u201cIsraeli lobby,\u201d and more, according to Art for a Free Palestine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">One drawing in the exhibit shows members of a so-called Israel lobby that is \u201cnuts and utterly in control,\u201d while other drawings accuse Israel of apartheid and committing a genocide against Palestinians.&nbsp;<a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/StopTheHate_UK\/status\/2035779608839061579\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Several drawings<\/a> feature a Nazi swastika, often alongside the flag of Israel, while one artwork in particular depicts ancient Israelites with horns. A separate piece shows two Sotheby\u2019s auctioneers eating babies with blood dripping from their teeth and one of them is Sotheby\u2019s French-Israeli owner Patrick Drahi. A separate drawing denies that sexual violence took place during the Hamas terrorist attack in Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, while&nbsp;<a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/StopTheHate_UK\/status\/2035773841092329480\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">another<\/a>&nbsp;falsely claims there is \u201cno reliable evidence whatsoever\u201d about some of the violence that took place during the massacre.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is depicted naked in one drawing while spewing blood from his mouth and the piece suggests that he is trying to \u201cchange reality\u201d with hypnotism in his desire to \u201cinvade Iran.\u201d Other drawings target the chief executive of the Jewish organization Community Security Trust, pro-Israel writer and journalist David Collier, and even film director Quentin Tarantino, who lives in Israel with his family.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cThis is the recycling of classic antisemitic tropes dressed up as activism,\u201d Collier told&nbsp;<em>The Algemeiner<\/em>. \u201cWhen swastikas and dehumanizing imagery are normalized in an art gallery, it tells you something has gone badly wrong.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cI am currently looking out at a UK landscape in which Jewish people are murdered while going to pray on Yom Kippur, and ambulances owned by a Jewish charity are torched,\u201d he added. \u201cIf the government and the police do not start connecting the dots between antisemitism masquerading as pro-Palestinian activism and the real-world violence we see unfolding before us, then the situation for British Jews will only get worse.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><span class=\"css-1jxf684 r-bcqeeo r-1ttztb7 r-qvutc0 r-poiln3\">The Combat Antisemitism Movement&nbsp;<a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/CombatASemitism\/status\/2035635309715554790\/photo\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>&nbsp;the drawings are \u201cworse than Nazi propaganda\u201d and feature \u201cmonstrous blood libels.\u201d&nbsp;<\/span>The grassroots nonprofit organization Stop the Hate UK said the drawings display the artist\u2019s \u201cobsessive hatred of Jews\u201d that is \u201cdressed up as art.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cThe artist makes sure to include lots of bank notes and blood. All the old tropes,\u201d the group noted in a post on X. \u201cThe British Jewish community are fed up of being told this sickening hate is ok. It\u2019s not.\u201d Stop the Hate UK also shared on X&nbsp;<a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/StopTheHate_UK\/status\/2035769905409077542\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a video<\/a>&nbsp;of the exhibit\u2019s alleged curator saying \u201cglobalize the intifada\u201d and \u201cfrom the river to the sea,\u201d a slogan that calls for the dismantling of the State of Israel and for it to be replaced by \u201cPalestine.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"css-175oi2r r-1s2bzr4\">\n<div class=\"css-146c3p1 r-bcqeeo r-1ttztb7 r-qvutc0 r-37j5jr r-1inkyih r-16dba41 r-bnwqim r-135wba7\" dir=\"auto\" lang=\"en\" data-testid=\"tweetText\">\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">The exhibit has also been publicly condemned by the UK\u2019s Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp and several other groups, including the Jewish Leadership Council, Labour Against Antisemitism, and Campaign Against Antisemitism in statements given to&nbsp;<em>The Telegraph<\/em>.
