\u201cA renewed conflict between Iran and the United States is likely,\u201d a senior Iranian military officer said on Saturday in the wake of President Donald Trump\u2019s statement that he was \u201cnot satisfied<\/a><\/span>\u201d with Tehran\u2019s latest proposal to end the conflict.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cEvidence has shown that the United States is not committed to any promises or agreements,\u201d AFP<\/i> quoted IRGC Brig. Gen. Mohammad Jafar Asadi, as saying in an interview published by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-affiliated Fars News Agency<\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Asadi is deputy commander of the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, Iran\u2019s highest operational military command, which is responsible for planning, coordinating and controlling joint operations between the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Artesh (regular army).<\/span><\/p>\n

On Friday, Iran\u2019s judiciary chief Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei said the Islamic Republic had \u201cnever shied away from negotiations,\u201d but that it would not accept an \u201cimposition\u201d of peace terms, AFP <\/i>reported.<\/span><\/p>\n

Also on Friday, Trump told reporters at the White House that the Iranian regime wants to \u201cmake a deal because they have no military left.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

However, Tehran is \u201casking for things that I can\u2019t agree to,\u201d he added.<\/span><\/p>\n

The president attributed the stalemate in negotiations to Iran\u2019s \u201cextremely disjointed\u201d leadership, which was effectively decapitated during the joint U.S.-Israeli war on the Islamic Republic launched on Feb. 28.<\/span><\/p>\n

Speaking at a rally in The Villages, Fla., on Saturday, Trump said that America is \u201cin a war because, I think you would agree, we cannot let lunatics have a nuclear weapon.<\/span>\u201d<\/p>\n
