<\/a>US strikes 90 Iranian military targets, hours after Trump says ceasefire a \u2018waste of time\u2019<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/h3>\nJessica Russak-Hoffman<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n The American military attacked about 90 military targets in Iran, including \u201cair defense systems, coastal surveillance assets, missile and drone storage sites, naval capabilities and military logistics infrastructure along Iran\u2019s coastline,\u201d U.S. Central Command said shortly before midnight on Wednesday night.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThe latest strikes follow successful execution of offensive strikes in Iran the night before,\u201d CENTCOM said. The strikes \u201cfurther degrade Iran\u2019s ability to attack commercial shipping and innocent civilian mariners in the Strait of Hormuz,\u201d it added.<\/span><\/p>\n Hours before the strikes began, U.S. President Donald Trump\u00a0said<\/a><\/span>\u00a0that negotiating with Iran regime leaders was \u201cjust a waste of time\u201d and called the Iranians \u201cliars,\u201d \u201cscum\u201d and \u201csick people.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIf they had a nuclear weapon, they\u2019d use it,\u201d Trump said earlier in the day. \u201cAs far as I\u2019m concerned, it\u2019s over.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n U.S. Central Command said that Trump ordered the additional strikes to \u201cfurther degrade their ability to threaten freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThe United States is holding Iran accountable for recent unjustified aggression against commercial shipping and civilian crews freely navigating a vital international waterway,\u201d CENTCOM said.<\/span><\/p>\n Trump shared video footage on Wednesday of loud booms, explosions and fire coming out of a building, including apparently at Iran\u2019s Chabahar Port, and\u00a0stated<\/a><\/span>\u00a0that \u201cthis is in retribution for yesterday\u2019s bombing of ships by Iran.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIf it happens again, it will get much worse,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n Iran has reportedly said that it plans to respond.<\/span><\/p>\n On Tuesday, the U.S. military said that it hit more than 80 targets in Iran with \u201cprecision munitions as an immediate response to Iran\u2019s latest attacks on commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cU.S. forces struck Iranian air defense systems, command and control networks, coastal radar sites, anti-ship missile capabilities and more than 60 Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps small boats in and near the strait to degrade Iran\u2019s ability to continue attacking international commerce flowing through the international trade corridor,\u201d CENTCOM said at the time.<\/span><\/p>\n Earlier in the day on Wednesday, CENTCOM said that more than 20 U.S. naval warships were \u201cpatrolling waters across the Middle East, as CENTCOM forces continue promoting regional security and stability.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Zawarto\u015b\u0107 publikowanych artyku\u0142\u00f3w i materia\u0142\u00f3w nie reprezentuje pogl\u0105d\u00f3w ani opinii Reunion’68,<\/em> US strikes 90 Iranian military targets, hours after Trump says ceasefire a \u2018waste of time\u2019 Jessica Russak-Hoffman \u201cThe United States is holding Iran accountable for recent unjustified aggression against commercial shipping and civilian crews freely navigating a vital international waterway,\u201d U.S. Central Command said.
