<\/a>United States strikes dozens of IRGC sites in \u2018powerful response\u2019 to Iranian attacks<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/h3>\nJNS Staff<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n The U.S. military launched what it described as a \u201cheavy wave of strikes\u201d against Iranian targets on Wednesday, hours after U.S. President Donald Trump warned Washington would be \u201chitting them hard\u201d in response to Tehran\u2019s recent attacks on American forces.<\/span><\/p>\n U.S. Central Command said the \u201cpowerful response,\u201d which lasted for some two hours, hit dozens of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps sites across the Islamic Republic. According to CENTCOM, it struck military command centers, missile and drone facilities, coastal surveillance and defense sites, as well as maritime capabilities. The military said the strikes were intended to further reduce threats posed by the Islamic regime and its regional proxies to U.S. forces, commercial shipping and neighboring Gulf states.<\/span><\/p>\n The operation followed what CENTCOM described as an \u201cattempted surprise attack\u201d on July 28, when the IRGC fired multiple ballistic missiles at U.S. forces across the region.<\/span><\/p>\n All the Iranian missiles were intercepted and no casualties or damage was reported.<\/span><\/p>\n Earlier on Wednesday, Trump on threatened further military action against Iran in response to the renewed attacks.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re going to beat the f***ing sh** out of them,\u201d Trump said in a phone interview with Fox News<\/i> correspondent Trey Yingst. \u201cWe\u2019ll be hitting them hard. They\u2019re going to get a beating,\u201d the president added.<\/span><\/p>\n The IRGC threatened on Thursday morning that \u201cthe aggressor will be punished today,\u201d adding that any country assisting the U.S. militarily would face a \u201charsh response,\u201d according to Iran\u2019s state-run IRNA<\/i> outlet.<\/span><\/p>\n Earlier on Thursday, the Islamic Republic launched missile and drone strikes on Jordan and Kuwait, the two countries said. The assault targeting Kuwait hit a building belonging to a Chinese company in northern Kuwait, the country\u2019s defense ministry said in a post on X. The attack killed a worker at the facility and inflicted \u201csignificant\u201d damage, the post added.<\/span><\/p>\n In Jordan, air defenses intercepted five Iranian ballistic missiles on Thursday, a military source told the Hashemite Kingdom\u2019s official Petra News Agency<\/i>. The missiles were shot down \u201cefficiently and professionally, resulting in the thwarting of the attempted targeting of the kingdom\u2019s territory, without any human casualties being recorded,\u201d the source said.<\/span><\/p>\n Meanwhile, the Egyptian government said on Thursday that an initial investigation found that a drone caused a fire aboard two ships at Damietta Port in northern Egypt a day earlier.
