{"id":14419,"date":"2015-02-15T19:00:27","date_gmt":"2015-02-15T17:00:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.reunion68.se\/?p=14419"},"modified":"2015-02-14T09:02:44","modified_gmt":"2015-02-14T07:02:44","slug":"14419","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.reunion68.se\/?p=14419","title":{"rendered":"Lithuanian leader: Minsk \u2018much worse than Munich\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/euromaidanpress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"center alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.reunion68.com\/Biuletyn\/img\/euro.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" \/><\/a><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #000080;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #000080; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"http:\/\/euromaidanpress.com\/2015\/02\/13\/lithuanian-leader-minsk-much-worse-munich\/\" target=\"_blank\">Lithuanian leader: Minsk \u2018much worse than Munich\u2019<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/h5>\n<hr style=\"height: 15px; background: #d0e6fa; width: 710px;\" \/>\n<div style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"attachment-format-standard wp-post-image\" src=\"\/\/euromaidanpress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/vytautas-landsbergis-671612661.jpg\" alt=\"Vytautas Landsbergis\" width=\"300\" height=\"188\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Vytautas Landsbergis<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong>Many including the author of these lines have compared what happened in Minsk this week with what happened in Munich in 1938, but Vytautas Landsbergis, the man who played the key role in recovering the independence of Lithuania, argues that the Minsk meeting was \u201cmuch worse than Munich.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">One reason for that conclusion, he points out, is that in 1938, there were no SS officers from the Sudetenland taking part and demanding the dismemberment of Czechoslovakia. \u201cAt the very least, they were not sitting\u201d at the negotiating table. But in Minsk, precisely such people were.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">As a result, the Western participants lent to them and their demands a legitimacy which invading forces do not deserve and should never be given. Such hirelings of an aggressive state \u201cmust not be allowed to sit\u201d at such talks. To allow them to do so is to give up the game and yield to the aggressor.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">If Russia now presumes to dictate what should be the constitutional order in Ukraine and if he has gained the assent of the German chancellor and the French president, Landsbergis continues, then the world has the right, even the obligation to ask, \u201cwhen will you begin to observe the [Russian] Constitution, Mr. Putin?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">If he has no intention of doing so \u2013 and clearly there is no evidence for any other conclusion, Landsbergis suggests \u2013 then, \u201ckeep your mouth shut and don\u2019t talk about the Constitution.\u201d Ukraine is \u201ca democratic country, we have an elected parliament,\u201d and its president Petro Poroshenko can say \u201cI am an elected president [but] you appointed yourself.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">The Lithuanian leader said that he was disappointed that German Chancellor Angela Merkel apparently accepted Putin\u2019s \u201c\u2019puppet theater\u2019\u201d when she suggested that the Kremlin leader had put pressure on the separatists to sign the agreement.
