(Czarek Sokolowski\/AP Images)\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong>WARSAW, Poland (JTA) \u2014 Representatives of the Polish Jewish community lit Hanukkah candles at the Presidential Palace in Warsaw following a one-year hiatus.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">The ceremony, which was launched in 2006, was held Wednesday evening. Until 2014, the candle lighting had been held every year since its inauguration.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cIt is good that Hanukkah candles were lit again in the Presidential Palace,\u201d Polish-Jewish activist Piotr Kadlcik told JTA. \u201cI hope that the president\u2019s words, the \u2018republic of friends,\u2019 is a good sign for Polish Jews and Israel.\u201d Kadlcik did not elaborate on why there was no ceremony last year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">At the ceremony, Polish President Andrzej Duda thanked Israel\u2019s former ambassador to Poland, Shevach Weiss, who \u201cis the symbol of the republic of friends.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cI would like this Hanukkah candle to shine all over the country giving joy, and warmth, and a sense of community that we all so desperately need,\u201d Duda said. \u201cLet there always be a great hope for the chosen people, for all the Jews in Poland and around the world.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Duda noted that candle-lighting ceremony was launched by President Lech Kaczynski, who died in 2010.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr style=\"height: 15px; background: #d0e6fa; width: 710px;\" \/>\n<div id=\"content\" class=\" content-alignment&lt;br \/&gt;&lt;br \/&gt; \">\n<div id=\"watch-description\" class=\"yt-uix-button-panel\">\n<div id=\"watch-description-text\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #808080;\"> twoje uwagi, linki, wlasne artykuly, lub wiadomosci przeslij do: <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #808080; text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"mailto:webmaster@reunion68.com\">webmaster@reunion68.com<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr style=\"width: 710px;\" \/>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hanukkah candle lighting returns to Polish Presidential Palace Poland\u2019s President Andrzej Duda lighting a Hanukkah candle alongside Poland\u2019s Chief Rabbi Michael Schudrich in Warsaw, Poland, Dec. 9, 2015.
