An MSNBC correspondent notorious for his anti-Israel reporting is \u201conly interested in parroting the Palestinian narrative, even when reporting on the murder of innocents,\u201d a researcher at a prominent media watchdog group told The Algemeiner on Friday.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Gilead Ini, a senior research analyst at the Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting in America (CAMERA), was responding to Ayman Mohyeldin\u2019s recent coverage of Wednesday\u2019s deadly terror attack in Tel Aviv that left four dead and many others wounded.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mohyeldin \u2014 who was joined on air by reporter Martin Fletcher \u2014 claimed that \u201cPalestinian frustration\u201d against Israeli government policies led to the attack:<\/span><\/p>\n

But in the bigger picture, in the context of what has been happening in the occupied Palestinian territories, the occupation, the shift of Israeli politics, including the current government, more to the right, to what has been described by Israelis as an even more extreme right-wing government, some of the measures that have taken place in the West Bank, the siege that continues in Gaza, all of those continue to fester\u2026<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

The MSNBC reporter did not make mention of reports that the terrorists were affiliated with the Gaza-based Hamas terror group nor did he note the celebrations across Palestinian cities in Israel and the West Bank in the wake of the attack.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAyman Mohyeldin has an unfortunate history of journalism that looks more like anti-Israel advocacy than professional reporting,\u201d said Ini. \u201cHe famously insisted a knife-wielding Palestinian attacker was an innocent civilian \u2014 saying so even as the video broadcast clearly showed the man\u2019s weapon. But his advocacy reporting preceded that report. After terrorists murdered four Jews in a Paris market, as the victims were being buried, Mohyeldin was asked about the rise in immigration to Israel by European Jews escaping antisemitism. He responded by redirecting the conversation to Palestinian grievances.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

When Jews are murdered in Israel, Ini said, Mohyeldin \u201cdoes the same.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cContrary to Mohyeldin\u2019s commentary, the \u2018context\u2019 of these murders isn\u2019t that Israel replaced one defense minister with another. The germane context is that Palestinian leaders and media have long incited anti-Jewish violence, including by glorifying this very type of terrorism. The context is that, as the killers were growing up, everywhere they looked they learned that they would be seen as heroes if they killed Jews in a cafe. And that\u2019s what they did,\u201d Ini told The Algemeiner. \u201cIf Muhyeldin isn\u2019t willing to tell this part of the story \u2014 even when reporting on the murder of innocent Israelis, or innocent French Jews \u2014 MSNBC should move him to another bureau.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

In October, following Mohyeldin\u2019s botched reporting of the terror stabbing attack, a private petition was launched calling on NBC Universal News Group, which owns MSNBC, to fire the reporter.<\/span><\/p>\n

MSNBC did not immediately respond to The Algemeiner\u2018s request for comment.<\/span><\/p>\n
