The United Nations \u201cbegan as a moral force and has become a moral farce,\u201d Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu quipped on Thursday in his annual address to the UN General Assembly in New York City.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Nevertheless, Netanyahu predicted, \u201cIsrael has a bright future at the UN.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBack home, your governments are rapidly changing their attitudes toward Israel,\u201d the prime minister said. \u201cEverything will change, and a lot sooner than you think.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

More and more countries \u2014 including in Asia, Africa and Latin America \u2014 are seeing Israel as a potential partner in \u201cfighting the terrorism of today and developing the technology of tomorrow.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

But the biggest shift, Netanyahu stated, was taking place in the Arab world, where many nations were coming to realize that Israel is an ally, not an enemy.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOur common enemies are Iran and ISIS,\u201d he said. \u201cOur common goals are security, prosperity and peace.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Looking to the future, Netanyahu said, \u201cI believe the day is not far off that Israel will be able to count on many countries to stand with us at the UN. The days when UN ambassadors reflexively condemn Israel, those days are coming to an end.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Referring to rumors of a potential UN Security Council resolution on peace with the Palestinians being advanced in the coming months, Netanyahu declared, \u201cWe will not accept any attempt by the UN to dictate terms to Israel. The road to peace runs through Jerusalem and Ramallah, not through New York.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Netanyahu characterized Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas\u2019 threat to sue the United Kingdom over the 1917 Balfour Declaration \u2014 issued during Abbas\u2019s General Assembly speech earlier on Thursday \u2014 as \u201cabsurd\u201d and called out the PA for its incitement of terrorism.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHow can we expect young Palestinians to support peace when their leaders poison their minds?,\u201d Netanyahu asked. \u201cPresident Abbas, you have two choices: you can continue to spread hate as you did today, or you can work with me.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The prime minister went on to invite Abbas \u201cto come and speak at the Knesset in Jerusalem and I will gladly come to speak at the parliament in Ramallah.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Netanyahu also reiterated his vow that Israel would not let Iran develop nuclear weapons \u2014 \u201cnot now, not in a decade, not ever.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
