Ahead of US Secretary of State John Kerry\u2019s Mideast policy speech on Wednesday, a member of the Israeli cabinet blasted the countries that supported Friday\u2019s UN Security Council Resolution 2334, declaring a Jewish presence beyond the 1967 armistice lines illegal, the Hebrew news site nrg reported.<\/span><\/p>\n

Transportation, Intelligence and Atomic Energy Minister Yisrael Katz said with disgust, \u201cStates to which Israel has been providing intelligence to assist them in preventing terrorist attacks on their soil sat there and voted against us at the UNSC.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

In sharp contrast to Katz \u2014 a member of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu\u2019s Likud party \u2014 opposition politicians, among them Zionist Union MK Tzipi Livni, defended the resolution, while criticizing what she considers to be the reason behind it.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIn the sea of curses that the Netanyahu government is hurling at the world, it is our job to distill the truth,\u201d Livni said. \u201cThe entire world is not against the state of Israel, but rather against the settlement policy of the Israeli government. In times of war against enemies, we will stand by the government\u2019s side, but we will not stand beside a government that turns our friends into enemies through its policies.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

A prominent leader of the settler movement Oded Revivi, head of the Efrat Regional Council, called Kerry \u2014 with whom he met a few weeks ago \u2014 \u201cdisconnected from reality,\u201d a \u201cheadline-seeker\u201d who \u201cconfuses facts with wish[ful thinking].\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Kerry delivered his speech \u2014 dubbed \u201cRemarks on Middle East Peace\u201d \u2014 at 11 am EST Wednesday at the State Department.<\/span><\/p>\n
