Photo: Screenshot.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>The international diplomatic conference set to be held in Paris on Sunday and attended by outgoing US Secretary of State John Kerry will be a \u201creward to the Palestinians for continuing to avoid negotiations while promoting terrorism,\u201d Israel\u2019s UN envoy said on Thursday.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Ambassador Danny Danon sounded the alarm about potential moves against Israel at the UN next week before US President-elect Donald Trump\u2019s inauguration on Friday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cWe are witnessing an attempt to promote a last-minute initiative before the new US administration takes office,\u201d Danon said. \u201cSupporters of the Palestinians are looking for further anti-Israel measures at the Security Council.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cThe hypocrisy and the obsessive focus on Israel has reached new heights,\u201d Danon went on to say. \u201cThese one-sided initiatives not only fail in bringing us closer to peace, but they actually encourage terrorism like we saw in last week\u2019s horrific attack in Jerusalem.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Meanwhile, the Hebrew news site nrg reported on Friday that Israeli Foreign Ministry officials were trying to water down the text of whatever document comes out of the Paris conference.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">The summit will be \u201cthe swan song of the Obama era,\u201d an Israeli diplomatic official told nrg. \u201cIts goal is to hang on to the two-state vision.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">The prevailing opinion in Jerusalem, the report said, is that the final product of the conference will be \u201cparve,\u201d as it will be difficult for France to get all of the 70 nations represented at the Paris confab to agree on tough wording. But, the report added, Israeli diplomats are nevertheless working to prevent less rosy scenarios.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">The Associated Press reported on Friday that a draft document urges Israel and the Palestinians to \u201cofficially restate their commitment to the two-state solution\u201d as the \u201conly way to achieve enduring peace\u201d and says the international community \u201cwill not recognize\u201d changes to the pre-1967 armistice lines without agreement from both sides.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">On Tuesday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told a visiting AIPAC delegation in Jerusalem that he was concerned there might be a \u201crepetition\u201d next week of last month\u2019s passage of an anti-settlement Security Council resolution.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cWe\u2019re doing our best [and] we hope that you\u2019ll do your best to exert the influence that it doesn\u2019t happen, because it pushes peace further away because it\u2019s unfair,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">The previous week, Netanyahu told a group of Israeli ambassadors at a Foreign Ministry conference in Jerusalem, \u201cThe Paris conference is a futile conference, but there are signs that they will try to take decisions reached there and have them become another decision at the UN Security Council.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Last Sunday, ex-Israeli Foreign Ministry Director General Dore Gold cautioned, \u201cOn Jan. 17, again the UN will reconvene and it will probably discuss the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and if there is a conclusion to this meeting in Paris [on Jan. 15], that conclusion may find its way to New York.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cThis is objectionable to Israel,\u201d Gold \u2014 who served as the Jewish state\u2019s UN envoy in the late 1990s \u2014 went on to say. \u201cWhat Israel learned through many years of negotiations and diplomacy, from the days of [the late former Foreign Minister] Abba Eban to the period of Benjamin Netanyahu, was that the only way we resolve our differences with our neighbors is by sitting face-to-face at the peace table.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<hr style=\"background: #d0e6fa; width: 710px; height: 15px;\" \/>\n<div id=\"content\" class=\" content-alignment&lt;br \/&gt;&lt;br \/&gt; \">\n<div id=\"watch-description\" class=\"yt-uix-button-panel\">\n<div id=\"watch-description-text\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #808080;\"> twoje uwagi, linki, wlasne artykuly, lub wiadomosci przeslij do: <span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a style=\"color: #000080; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"mailto:webmaster@reunion68.com\">webmaster@reunion68.com<\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr style=\"width: 710px;\" \/>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Israeli UN Envoy: Paris Peace Conference a Reward to Palestinians for Avoiding Negotiations While Promoting Terrorism Barney Breen-Portnoy Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon.
