A \u201cblood-soaked\u201d Israeli flag featured prominently at a recent anti-Trump campus event, The Algemeiner has learned.<\/span><\/p>\n

Footage posted on social media from the \u201cMuslim Immigration and Refugee Ban Solidarity March\u201d at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) on Monday shows students holding up the flag, which is covered in red hand prints, simulating blood.<\/span><\/p>\n

A female student wearing a hijab is seen yelling into a megaphone against past and current US administrations for being \u201ccomplacent\u201d against \u201cstate violence\u201d and for \u201cnot listening\u201d to the concerns of minorities. Students are also seen holding an American flag upside down.<\/span><\/p>\n

The demonstration was co-sponsored by a number of UIUC groups, including the school\u2019s chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) and Muslim Student Association (MSA), in protest against US President Donald Trump\u2019s controversial executive order travel ban.<\/span><\/p>\n

The introduction of the \u201cbloodied\u201d flag at a gathering ostensibly staged to demonstrate against a policy of the new Trump administration was the latest example of students co-opting an event to express hostility to the Jewish state. Earlier this week, a similar practice was seen at a rally at the University of California, Irvine.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the website Campus Reform, a student at the rally told fellow demonstrators, \u201cI want you guys to be about anti-Islamophobia; I want you guys to be anti-Zionism; and I want you guys to be anti-Israel because Trump didn\u2019t come up with these things on his own. He got the idea of the wall from Israel.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The student then led the crowd in a chant that has become popular at anti-Trump demonstrations across the country: \u201cFrom Palestine to Mexico, all the walls have got to go.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

As The Algemeiner reported last month, campus watchdog groups slammed student activists for taking advantage of the rage being expressed against Trump to further their anti-Israel agenda. One organization called such moves \u201cdangerous,\u201d saying that \u201cprotesters are receiving slanted information and most are not even aware that their particular cause has been co-opted by these extremist voices.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Since Trump signed the executive order on immigration, hundreds of thousands of protesters have gathered at airports across the country to rally against the policy.<\/span><\/p>\n
