There is also a hothouse up here with the freshest green vegetables you\u2019ve ever seen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">While gardening on the roof of an urban parking garage may seem absurd, Yarok Ba\u2019ir (Green in the City) is serving city dwellers \u2013 and restaurants within a 2-kilometer radius \u2014 straight-from-the-farm veggies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Green in the City is a joint venture between LivinGreen, a company that pioneers hydroponic and aquaponic solutions, and the Dizengoff Center, opened in the 1970s as Israel\u2019s first shopping mall.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.israel21c.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/IMG_20160619_230654.jpg\" width=\"100%\" \/><span style=\"color: #808080;\"><em>A gardening workshop at Green in the City. Photo by Mendi Falk<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cThe main goal of Green in the City is to bring agriculture to the middle of the city, to be able to grow food right in the heart of the city,\u201d Yoav Sharon, co-manager of Green in the City, tells ISRAEL21C.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cPeople can come here and buy their products, so that trucks don\u2019t have to come into the city to deliver products to restaurants.
