{"id":52463,"date":"2017-05-26T17:05:24","date_gmt":"2017-05-26T15:05:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.reunion68.se\/?p=52463"},"modified":"2017-05-26T07:51:57","modified_gmt":"2017-05-26T05:51:57","slug":"26-05-14","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.reunion68.se\/?p=52463","title":{"rendered":"Jailed Palestinian Terrorist Leader Marwan Barghouti\u2019s Son &#8211; at Stanford"},"content":{"rendered":"<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.algemeiner.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"center alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.reunion68.com\/Biuletyn\/img\/algem.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"30%\" \/><\/a><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #000080;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #000080; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.algemeiner.com\/2017\/05\/25\/stanford-student-senate-funds-on-campus-speech-by-jailed-palestinian-terrorist-leader-marwan-barghoutis-son\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Stanford Student Senate Funds On-Campus Speech by Jailed Palestinian Terrorist Leader Marwan Barghouti\u2019s Son<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Rachel Frommer<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<hr style=\"background: #d0e6fa; width: 710px; height: 15px;\" \/>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/49yzp92imhtx8radn224z7y1-wpengine.netdna-ssl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Screen-Shot-2017-05-25-at-10.32.02-AM.png\" width=\"60%\" \/><span style=\"color: #808080;\"><em>Aarab Barghouti, launching the \u201cSalt Water Challenge.\u201d Photo: YouTube Screenshot.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>The Stanford student senate voted to fund an on-campus speech by the son of imprisoned Palestinian terrorist Marwan Barghouti, a campus paper reported on Wednesday.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">The event featuring Aarab Barghouthi, to be hosted on Thursday night by Stanford\u2019s Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), will receive \u201c$450 for an honorarium and $200 for facility use\u201d from the senate, according to the report in The Stanford Daily.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Three senators abstained from the vote.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Jewish senator and appropriation\u2019s chair Gabe Rosen was quoted as saying though he was \u201cpersonally very deeply concerned with the content of the speech,\u201d he supported the measure in the name of freedom of expression.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Jacob Kaplan-Lipkin, a past president of the Stanford Israel Association, told The Algemeiner that he was \u201cnot at all surprised\u201d that SJP invited Barghouti to come speak about his support for his father, who is currently heading a hunger strike of Palestinians jailed in Israel. Marwan Barghouti \u2014 the head of Fatah\u2019s Tanzim armed wing and a founder of the al-Aqsa Martyrs\u2019 Brigades \u2014 orchestrated a string of deadly terrorist attacks during the Second Intifada before being arrested in Ramallah by Israeli troops in April 2002. He was convicted on five counts of murder in May 2004 and is serving life in prison.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Aarab Barghouti has been a leader in crafting the international campaign in support of the hunger strikers, including launching the \u201cSalt Water Challenge,\u201d in which anti-Israel activists film themselves drinking a cup of saltwater and challenging friends to do the same.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cSJP has hosted far worse people,\u201d said Kaplan-Lipkin, adding that he \u201cwould expect an administrative response\u201d if SJP were to invite, for example, Marwan Barghouti himself.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Kaplan-Lipkin noted that hosting pro-terror speakers was the \u201cbread and butter of SJP\u2026[and] if we took the time to be outraged at every iteration of this, we would not be able to focus on planning\u201d the numerous pro-Israel events SIA has held this year, including Israel Independence Day parties and lectures by Israeli diplomats.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cI am, of course, concerned that Aarab is speaking in support of terrorists, but unfortunately, I am not the least bit surprised, and it would simply be impossible to be emotionally distraught every time this happened,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Jewish Voice for Peace is among the co-sponsors of the Barghouti event.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">The senate and SJP did not respond to The Algemeiner\u2018s requests for comment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">In 2015, Stanford\u2019s SJP co-hosted a program featuring Mads Gilbert, a Norwegian doctor who said in November 2001 that he supported the 9\/11 terror attacks, as \u201cthe oppressed\u2026have a moral right to attack the USA with any weapon they can come up with.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<hr style=\"background: #d0e6fa; width: 710px; height: 15px;\" \/>\n<div id=\"content\" class=\" content-alignment&lt;br \/&gt;&lt;br \/&gt; \">\n<div id=\"watch-description\" class=\"yt-uix-button-panel\">\n<div id=\"watch-description-text\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #808080;\"> twoje uwagi, linki, wlasne artykuly, lub wiadomosci przeslij do: <span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a style=\"color: #000080; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"mailto:webmaster@reunion68.com\">webmaster@reunion68.com<\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr style=\"width: 710px;\" \/>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Stanford Student Senate Funds On-Campus Speech by Jailed Palestinian Terrorist Leader Marwan Barghouti\u2019s Son Rachel Frommer Aarab Barghouti, launching the \u201cSalt Water Challenge.\u201d Photo: YouTube Screenshot.
