Islamic Human Rights Commission’s Nazim Ali blames “Zionists” for Grenfell fire tragedy<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Al Quds Day parade leader Nazim Ali<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

The speaker who repeatedly made antisemitic statements when he addressed the crowd at yesterday\u2019s Al Quds Day parade can be revealed as Nazim Ali, the director of self-styled \u201cadvocacy group\u201d the Islamic Human Rights Commission.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Mr Ali whipped up the 1,000 anti-Israel fanatics attending the march with a series of chants blaming the Grenfell Tower tragedy on \u201cZionism\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

He also called for Israel\u2019s annihilation, and accused the Israel Defence Force of being a \u201cterrorist organisation that murdered Palestinians, Jews and British soldiers.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Mr Ali stayed at the head of the marchers – many of whom held aloft flags of the banned terror organisation Hezbollah – for the two hours it took for the parade to make its way through central London to Grosvenor Square, Using a loud-hailer to lead them in a stream of anti-Israel abuse.<\/span><\/p>\n

At one point he spotted pro-Israel counter-demonstrators carrying Israeli flags.<\/span><\/p>\n

He ordered the march to halt, insisting it would not move on until the \u201cZionist flag\u201d was removed. He said: \u201cWe are fed up of the Zionists. We are fed up of their rabbis. We are fed of their synagogues. We are fed up of their supporters.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Screaming into the microphone, Mr Ali guided the crowd in a chant of: \u201cJudaism \u2013 yes. Zionism \u2013 no. The state of Israel must go.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

It was just as the march was about to set off that Mr Ali walked towards a small group of pro-Israeli demonstrators and began singing: \u201cBye, bye Zionists.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

He then made his remarks linking the Grenfell Tower tragedy to Zionism, adding: \u201cThese people do not know what justice is because it\u2019s their supporters who are supporting the Tory Party, that\u2019s who they are. Zionists who give money to the Tory Party to kill people in high rise blocks.\u201c<\/span><\/p>\n

Mr Ali with a self-styled ‘anti Zionist rabbi’<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Mr Ali turned to the large police presence and said: \u201cI am requesting that the police watch those trouble-makers over there. They will try to incite. That\u2019s what they are good at causing violence. Do not react to the killers of British soldiers.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

He also repeatedly drew attention to the presence of a handful of members of the Jewish anti-Israel Neturei Karta group, praising as being \u201ctrue\u201d Jews.<\/span><\/p>\n

He added: \u201cBecause these rabbis don\u2019t kill people, because these rabbis don\u2019t murder people, they are told they are traitors. Because Zionism is a fascist, evil ideology. It is an evil ideology to its core \u2013 that\u2019s what Zionism is. That is why they killed British soldiers in order to get their country.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

During the march Mr Ali also claimed \u201cZionists\u201d were supporters of Isis.<\/span><\/p>\n

He said: \u201dIsis are being treated in their hospitals. Isis are being supported in the occupied Golan. Everyone knows that Zionist Israel and Isis are the same. They are brothers in arms.\u201c<\/span><\/p>\n

The IHRC, which is based in London, has been given charitable status and states that its mission is to “work with different organisations from Muslim and non-Muslim backgrounds, to campaign for justice for all peoples regardless of their racial, confessional or political background.”<\/span><\/p>\n

The group has repeatedly called for the repeal of much UK terror legislation \u2013 including the government\u2019s Prevent strategy.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Community Security Trust yesterday condemned Mr Ali\u2019s comments linking Zionism to the Grenfell Towers fire as \u201cgrotesque.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Lord Polak CBE, Conservative Friends Of Israel\u2019s Honorary President wrote to Home Secretary Amber Rudd to express concern over the Hezbollah flag at Sunday\u2019s march and called on the Metropolitan Police to charge those found in \u201cdirect contravention\u201d of Section 13 of the Terrorism Act (2000).<\/span><\/p>\n

The UK currently proscribes Hezbollah\u2019s so-called \u2018military wing\u2019, while the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, the Arab League, the Gulf Cooperation Council, and Israel proscribe the terrorist organisation in its entirety.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Metropolitan Police and the Home Office have been asked for comment.<\/span><\/p>\n

When the JC attempted to contact Mr Ali at the IHRC a spokesman confirmed he worked there and that he had been on the microphone at Sunday\u2019s Al Quds Day event.<\/span><\/p>\n
