One lesser known hero is Captain Elgen M. Long, an American WWII pilot.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Between 1948-1950, post WWII, Captain Long and the crewmen of Alaska Airlines managed to rescue 50,000 persecuted Yemenite Jews and bring them to Israel.
