{"id":57100,"date":"2017-11-05T18:00:55","date_gmt":"2017-11-05T16:00:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.reunion68.se\/?p=57100"},"modified":"2017-11-02T07:46:56","modified_gmt":"2017-11-02T05:46:56","slug":"05-00-21","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.reunion68.se\/?p=57100","title":{"rendered":"Palestinians Again Fail to Oust Israel from International Sports Competition"},"content":{"rendered":"<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/unitedwithisrael.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"center alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.reunion68.com\/Biuletyn\/img\/U-Israel.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"30%\" \/><\/a><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #000080;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #000080; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/unitedwithisrael.org\/palestinians-again-fail-to-oust-israel-from-international-football-fifa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Palestinians Again Fail to Oust Israel from International Sports Competition<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>United with Israel Staff<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<hr style=\"background: #d0e6fa; width: 710px; height: 15px;\" \/>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/unitedwithisrael.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/F130605YN08-640x400.jpg\" width=\"100%\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Soccer\u2019s international governing body has turned down another Palestinian demand to jettison Israel from its ranks.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">The world\u2019s governing body for soccer, or \u201cfootball\u201d as the sport is known in most parts of the world, F\u00e9d\u00e9ration Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), has turned down another Palestinian demand to remove the Israeli Football Association (IFA) from its ranks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">FIFA ruled against a motion submitted by the Palestinian Football Association (PFA) requesting official recognition of the PFA\u2019s rights under FIFA bylaws on the grounds that the Israel-Palestinian conflict is a complex political dispute unrelated to football.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Such a move would have Israeli teams based in Judea and Samaria declared teams originating from \u201coccupied territory\u201d and would require the IFA to expel them or face a penalty itself.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">FIFA President Gianni Infantino tried to resolve the issue through talks, but finally stated that \u201cwe see there where our limits unfortunately are,\u201d noting, perhaps hyperbolically, that disputes in the region date back \u201c10,000 years.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cFootball is not going to solve them either, I am afraid,\u201d Infantino said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Council members decided that \u201cinterference by FIFA in the (soccer) status quo in these territories \u2026 could have an aggravating effect on the current circumstances.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">The World Jewish Congress (WJC) on Friday welcomed the decision.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">The WJC\u2019s says its efforts on the matter spanned several diplomatic spheres.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">WJC President Ronald Lauder met with the chairman of the FIFA Israel-Palestine Monitoring Committee, Tokyo Sexwale, to pressure him to drop the Palestinian bid, and the two spoke a number of times subsequently in follow-up.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Lauder and Sexwale agreed that FIFA should serve as an instrument for bringing nations together. Sexwale also expressed last week at the WJC National Community Directors Forum in Cape Town his wishes of a peaceful solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">WJC CEO and Executive Vice President Robert Singer called FIFA\u2019s ruling \u201ca significant precedent which sends a strong message that international organizations should be used to build bridges, not to create divides. There is no place in sports for cynical political campaigns or unwarranted bias.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cWe hope that this puts an end to the PFA\u2019s misguided actions, and that other international organizations will follow FIFA\u2019s lead,\u201d Singer said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">The WJC also reiterated its support for organizing a friendly football match between Israel and the Palestinians, under FIFA\u2019s auspices, to encourage dialogue and cooperation, in accordance with the fundamental values of the association.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">This is not the first time Arab entities have tried and failed to undermine Israel through FIFA.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">The Palestinians have utilized FIFA several times over the past year as a platform for undermining Israel.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">The PFA is headed by Jibril Rajoub, who served time in an Israeli prison for terrorism.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cAny activity of normalization in sports with the Zionist enemy is a crime against humanity,\u201d Rajoub stated in 2014.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">In 2012, slamming the idea of organized sports activities with Israelis, Rajoub stated on PA TV that he would bring Arabs by helicopter to events instead of crossing through Israel, \u201cso they will see no Jews, no Satans, no Zionist sons of bitches.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<hr style=\"background: #d0e6fa; width: 710px; height: 15px;\" \/>\n<div id=\"content\" class=\" content-alignment&lt;br \/&gt;&lt;br \/&gt; \">\n<div id=\"watch-description\" class=\"yt-uix-button-panel\">\n<div id=\"watch-description-text\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #808080;\"> twoje uwagi, linki, wlasne artykuly, lub wiadomosci przeslij do: <span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a style=\"color: #000080; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"mailto:webmaster@reunion68.com\">webmaster@reunion68.com<\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr style=\"width: 710px;\" \/>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Palestinians Again Fail to Oust Israel from International Sports Competition United with Israel Staff Soccer\u2019s international governing body has turned down another Palestinian demand to jettison Israel from its ranks.
