German TV cancels backing for planned concert with former Pink Floyd front man due to singer\u2019s anti-Israel activities and alleged anti-Semitism<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

A Roger Waters concert was nixed after Cologne resident Malca Goldstein-Wolf launched a petition to prevent the Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR) television network from using public funds to sponsor the event. The petition referenced the rocker\u2019s use of anti-Semitic rhetoric and imagery, and gained nearly 1,400 signatures.<\/span><\/p>\n

Waters has compared the Israeli government to Nazi Germany and has claimed the \u201cpowerful Jewish lobby\u201d runs the media.<\/span><\/p>\n

Waters is a vociferous supporter of the anti-Israel BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) movement. He has voiced support for the Hamas terror organization. He regularly exerts public pressure on performers slated to perform in Israel and demands that they refrain from doing so, claiming that would generate pressure on Israel\u2019s \u201capartheid\u201d and \u201ccriminal\u201d government. In most cases he is ignored.<\/span><\/p>\n

Goldstein-Wolf\u2019s tactic was to accuse the chairman of the Cologne-based TV station Tom Buhrow, of promoting anti-Semitism by televising Waters, who has used anti-Semitic imagery at his concerts.<\/span><\/p>\n

Buhrow responded in a Facebook post to Goldstein-Wolf on Saturday, writing, \u201cI sense that not many words and arguments will convince you, rather only clear action. The cooperation with the concert was ended.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Goldstein-Wolf\u2019s online petition, titled \u201cNo support for the antisemite Roger Walters with public funds of the WDR,\u201d garnered nearly 1,400 signatures.<\/span><\/p>\n

Waters recently campaigned to pressure Radiohead and Nick Cave into canceling their concerts in Israel. The efforts failed.<\/span><\/p>\n

Waters is notoriously anti-Israel and, some say, an anti-Semite. He regularly utilizes his concerts to blast the Jewish State and promote actions against it.<\/span>
\n Waters\u2019 show, titled \u201cUs and Them,\u201d was slated to take place on June 11, 2018, at Cologne\u2019s Lanxess Arena.<\/span><\/p>\n
