CAA refers Labour Party to Equality Commission and issues new complaint against Jeremy Corbyn over \u201cHolocaust religion\u201d event and \u201chand of Israel\u201d comments<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Campaign Against Antisemitism has today written to the Labour Party issuing a disciplinary complaint against Jeremy Corbyn. We have also referred the Party to the Equality and Human Rights Commission over discrimination and victimisation<\/strong><\/span> in the Party.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our complaint against Mr Corbyn relates to an\u00a0event<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0he chaired on Holocaust Memorial Day in 2010 which deliberately compared Israelis to Nazis, and in which a speaker decried what he called the \u201cHolocaust religion\u201d. We have also complained about Mr Corbyn\u2019s paid\u00a0interview<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0on Iranian-controlled Press TV (months after Ofcom had revoked its licence) in which he blamed \u201cthe hand of Israel\u201d for an Islamist terrorist attack in Egypt, and called a Hamas terrorist a \u201cbrother\u201d live on air.<\/span><\/p>\n

We have also referred the Labour Party to the Equality and Human Rights Commission over the Party\u2019s\u00a0refusal<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0to adopt the International Definition of Antisemitism, failure to investigate\u00a0previous<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0complaints against Mr Corbyn, unreasonable delay and\u00a0secrecy<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0in disciplinary investigations,\u00a0bias<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>in disciplinary matters and victimisation of Labour MPs who stand up to antisemitism, including\u00a0Dame Margaret<\/strong> Hodge<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Ian Austin<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0who have today\u00a0become<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0Honorary Patrons of Campaign Against Antisemitism in an act of solidarity.<\/span><\/p>\n

The moves come after Labour ignored a fresh\u00a0protest<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0by British Jews in Parliament Square, with Mr Corbyn\u2019s office sarcastically wishing Campaign Against Antisemitism \u201cgood luck\u201d ahead of the demonstration, and\u00a0revelations<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0that NEC member Peter Willsman will not face\u00a0disciplinary action despite a shouted tirade against \u201cTrump fanatic\u201d Jews and \u201cfalsified\u201d antisemitism allegations.<\/span><\/p>\n

Gideon Falter, Chairman of Campaign Against Antisemitism, said: \u201cThe evidence shows beyond all doubt that Jeremy Corbyn is an antisemite and the Labour Party has become institutionally antisemitic. The problem is not one man but an entire movement which has hijacked the anti-racist Labour Party of old and corrupted it with a racist rot. We cannot allow this existential threat to British Jews and British society to persist, but we have seen time and again that Mr Corbyn and the Party have no intention of taking action.\u00a0That is why we have now taken the extraordinary step of calling in the Equality and Human Rights Commission.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
