Photo: Hadas Parush \/ Flash90.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">The Israeli-Druze security chief of the settlement of Adam in the West Bank recounted his pain over the murder of Yotam Ovadia, who was\u00a0<a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.algemeiner.com\/2018\/07\/27\/adam-resident-stabbed-and-killed-by-palestinian-teen-identified-as-yotem-ovadia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>killed last Thursday<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0by a Palestinian terrorist who had jumped the community\u2019s fence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Asked by\u00a0<em><a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.makorrishon.co.il\/news\/67607\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Makor Rishon<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/em>\u00a0for his thoughts about the incident, Ali Hussein, who has served as Adam\u2019s head of security since 2005, touched his stomach and said, \u201cIt hurts me here.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cPeople here know me,\u201d he continued. \u201cI live with them. They know I run toward everything, every event. And suddenly it happened. It isn\u2019t easy to lose a resident. Someone who you know his family, children, his father. My entire team feels this way, not good.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Hussein\u2019s family lives in the north of Israel and he says, \u201cI have two families \u2014 the people of Adam and my family in the north.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">He originally came to Adam\u00a0while working with a private security firm in 2002. \u201cI looked at the community and I connected to it quickly,\u201d he stated.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cWe were afraid something like this would happen,\u201d he said of the terror attack. \u201cWe train for this scenario. We aren\u2019t afraid, but we are vigilant.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Hussein described the incident, saying, \u201cThe guard at the gate called me, and I heard him yell that three Bedouins who lived outside the gate said they saw someone jump the fence and enter the settlement. I rushed there and talked to the Bedouins. \u2026 They pointed out the direction the terrorist went. I informed headquarters that there was a suspicion of an infiltration.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cWhen I got in the car,\u201d he recounted, \u201ca resident caught me on the telephone and said, \u2018There\u2019s a terrorist here.\u2019 I arrived at the street and saw that the terrorist had already been neutralized by the residents. I asked how many wounded there were, I saw Yotam and ran to him. I gave him first aid and called Magen David Adom to come quickly.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Asked what he thought about the terrorist, a 17-year-old Palestinian boy, Hussein said, \u201cIn my eyes, this is someone who bit the hand that fed him, because they give a living to hundreds of Palestinian workers in this community. The relations with them are very good, and in the end there\u2019s a Palestinian attack. I don\u2019t understand their minds.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cThe relations here are so good,\u201d he stated, \u201cthat there were arguments between me and Arab workers, and the residents took the side of the workers. A few years ago, there was a major accident outside the community and some Palestinian children were killed. The chairman of the community printed out a mourning sign and hung it out for everyone to see. I don\u2019t get it, why do they do this? The Jews and the Druze, we\u2019re in the same boat against them.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Asked whether he would like to live in Adam, Hussein replied, \u201cYes. Of course. My children were with me two weeks ago for a few days. But my wife works in Carmiel and my mother lives in the north, so it won\u2019t happen. There are several Druze residents here.
