Addressing the Knesset on Monday during a visit to Jerusalem, Czech President Milo\u0161 Zeman delivered a message of \u201csolidarity with Israel and the Jewish people.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c[Israeli] Prime Minister [Benjamin] Netanyahu said the Czech Republic is Israel\u2019s best friend in Europe,\u201d Zeman noted. \u201cI wonder, why only Europe? Anyway, I am the best friend of Israel in my whole country.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe Europeans\u2026 I speak about the EU, in fact, are sometimes hesitating,\u201d Zeman said. \u201cWe sometimes are cowards. It is very impolite, isn\u2019t it? But I am afraid it is frank. And that\u2019s why it is necessary all the time the solidarity with Israel. Because [if we] betray Israel, we betray ourselves.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Zeman criticized \u201cpolitical correctness,\u201d and emphasized that he purposely used the term \u201cIslamic terrorism.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The Czech president also reiterated his support for moving his country\u2019s embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI am no dictator unfortunately, but I promise I\u2019ll do my best,\u201d he said in an oblique reference to opposition he has faced \u2014 both in his own country and the rest of Europe \u2014 on the matter.<\/span><\/p>\n

In 2017, Zeman was honored with a\u00a0honored with a \u201cWarrior for Truth\u201d award<\/span><\/strong><\/a>\u00a0 at The Algemeiner\u2019s annual gala in New York City.<\/span><\/p>\n
