{"id":70742,"date":"2019-05-28T17:05:10","date_gmt":"2019-05-28T15:05:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.reunion68.se\/?p=70742"},"modified":"2019-05-28T06:40:27","modified_gmt":"2019-05-28T04:40:27","slug":"08-05-47","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.reunion68.se\/?p=70742","title":{"rendered":"German government calls on people to wear the kippah"},"content":{"rendered":"<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.israelnationalnews.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"center alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.reunion68.com\/Biuletyn\/img\/arutz.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"35%\" \/><\/a><span style=\"text-decoration: underline; color: #000080;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #000080; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.israelnationalnews.com\/News\/News.aspx\/263777\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">German government calls on people to wear the kippah<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Ben Ariel<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<hr style=\"height: 15px; background: #d0e6fa; width: 100%;\" \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/k6s3v6r4.ssl.hwcdn.net\/pictures\/882\/882187.jpg\" width=\"100%\" \/><span style=\"color: #999999;\"><em>Angela Merkel \/ Reuters<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">The German government has called on people to wear the kippah ahead of an anti-Israel protest as a demonstration of solidarity and as Jews face a spike in anti-Semitism,\u00a0<em>AFP<\/em>reported on Monday, withdrawing an earlier warning against wearing the traditional skullcap.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Felix Klein, Germany&#8217;s government commissioner on anti-Semitism,\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #000080; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.israelnationalnews.com\/News\/News.aspx\/263657\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">warned Jews<\/a><\/strong><\/span> over the weekend about the potential dangers of wearing the traditional kippah skullcap in the face of rising anti-Jewish attacks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">&#8220;I cannot advise Jews to wear the kippah everywhere all the time in Germany,&#8221; Felix Klein said in an interview published Saturday by the\u00a0<em>Funke<\/em>\u00a0regional press group.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">In issuing the warning, he said he had &#8220;alas, changed my mind (on the subject) compared to previously.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">The comments caused an uproar, with President Reuven Rivlin\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #000080; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.israelnationalnews.com\/News\/News.aspx\/263687\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">voicing shock<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0at Klein&#8217;s warning and saying was a &#8220;capitulation to anti-Semitism&#8221; and evidence that Jews are unsafe in Germany.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Late on Monday, Klein reversed course after Chancellor Angela Merkel&#8217;s spokesman intervened.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">&#8220;The state must see to it that the free exercise of religion is possible for all&#8230; and that anyone can go anywhere in our country in full security wearing a kippa,&#8221; the spokesman, Steffen Seibert, told a press conference.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">In his latest statement to\u00a0<em>Funke<\/em>, Klein then said, &#8220;I call on all citizens of Berlin and across Germany to wear the kippah next Saturday if there are new, intolerable attacks targeting Israel and Jews on the occasion of Al-Quds day in Berlin.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Al-Quds is the annual Iranian event against Israel and will take place on Saturday.
