Photo by Jorge Novominsky<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Four Israeli companies have won R&amp;D grants from the Space Florida-Israel Innovation Partnership Program, founded in 2013 to support research, development, and commercialization of aerospace and technology projects that benefit both Israel and Florida.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">The program is a joint initiative of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #000080; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.spaceflorida.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Space Florida<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, the aerospace and spaceport development authority for the State of Florida, and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.innovationisrael.org.il\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #000080; text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Israel Innovation Authority<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, an independent, publicly funded agency created to address the needs of the local and international innovation ecosystems.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">The company pairs that won grants in the sixth round of awards are:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nano-di.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #000080; text-decoration: underline;\">Nano Dimension<\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u00a0(Ness Ziona, Israel) and Harris Corporation (Melbourne, Florida), for development of 3D printing materials on the International Space Station (ISS) for lower-cost manufacturing of small satellites.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #000080; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.israel21c.org\/rocket-launched-minilabs-enable-pharma-rd-in-zero-gravity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SpacePharma<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0(Herzliya, Israel) and CadW Therapeutics\/Moffitt Cancer Center (Tampa, Florida), which are developing a microfluidics Lab-On-A-Chip that analyzes stress and DNA damage\/responses during space flight.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080; text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #000080; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.polymertal.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Polymertal<\/a><\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u00a0(Haifa, Israel) and Semplastics (Oviedo, Florida), for the development of a novel variety of hybrid materials for aviation and space applications ranging from structural parts to electronic assemblies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080; text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #000080; text-decoration: underline;\" href=\"https:\/\/stemrad.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">StemRad<\/a><\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u00a0(Tel Aviv, Israel) and Lockheed Martin (Kennedy Space Center, Florida) will use their grant for final development and testing of AstroRad, a wearable radiation shield for astronauts, on the Orion EM-1 mission.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cIsrael\u2019s innovative aerospace sector is reaching new heights, on both a local and international level,\u201d said Aharon Aharon, CEO of the Israel Innovation Authority. \u201cJoint research and development between cutting-edge companies from both Israel and Florida will help usher in the next generation of space exploration and build bridges resulting in groundbreaking innovations benefitting the entire aerospace industry.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cFor six years, the partnership between Space Florida and the Israel Innovation Authority has stimulated cutting-edge ideas and added to the body of research in aviation and aerospace.
