In a bid to intimidate Jewish students, a US neo-Nazi website with the tagline, \u201cNo Jews, Just Right,\u201d has published the photos of thousands of students and faculty at Yeshiva University (YU) in New York City.<\/span><\/p>\n

The photos were posted on the Vanguard News Network (VNN) forum, a white supremacist platform that identifies as an \u201cuncensored forum for whites.\u201d Yeshiva University\u2019s newspaper,\u00a0The YU Commentator<\/em>,\u00a0reported<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0that campus security called the content \u201cappalling and offensive\u201d and informed students that they had found \u201cno direct threat to the individuals appearing in the photos or to Yeshiva University.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

While the discussions on the forum generally revolve around mocking Jews, a handful of pages are dedicated to ridiculing members of the YU community alone. The discussion thread concerning YU students and staff started around May 2018, and the pictures appear to have been taken from public sources, such as YU\u2019s Flickr page.<\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0YU Commentator<\/em>\u00a0said it had been tipped off about the forum by a student journalist with\u00a0The Justice<\/em>\u00a0of Brandeis University, who was investigating the publication of Brandeis\u2019 students photos on the same site.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Jess Olson \u2014 an associate professor of Jewish history at Yeshiva University \u2014 told the paper that the demeaning antisemitic comments posted alongside the photos were \u201csadly and unacceptably a well-worn motif historically in antisemitic rhetoric and iconography.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Continued Olson: \u201cIt is an embarrassment to our country that we have arrived at a place that such ideas are flaunted with impunity.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Students who discovered their pictures online were very distressed by what they saw, the\u00a0YU Commentator<\/em>\u00a0noted. One student featured on the forum commented that \u201cit is very concerning that something like this is developing so quickly, especially in the United States.\u201d Being featured on a neo-Nazi website made her feel \u201cvulnerable and small.\u201d As a proud Jewish American, she was disturbed that she was being \u201ctargeted\u201d as a member of \u201ca people and a religion.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

VNN is published by Alex Linder, a former activist with the neo-Nazi National Alliance Party who has been active in white supremacist and Holocaust denial circles for several years.<\/span><\/p>\n

Linder was arrested in May 2007 in Knoxville, Tn., for assaulting a police officer during a racist protest.<\/span><\/p>\n
