New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman wore customized cleats on Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs to support baseball in Israel.<\/span><\/p>\n

His blue shoes donned a Star of David and the\u00a0Israel Baseball Association<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u2019<\/strong><\/span>s logo as part of the NFL\u2019s \u201cMy Cause, My Cleats\u2019\u2019 campaign. They will be auctioned to raise money for the IBA.<\/span><\/ins><\/ins><\/ins><\/p>\n

In\u00a0an Instagram post<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0with a picture of the cleats, Edelman said he visited Israel in 2015 for the first time, and that the trip was \u201cmeaningful\u201d and \u201chelped shape my perspective on things.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis year my cleats will benefit the Israel Baseball Association. They do so much for the Israeli community, bringing together people of all ages through the love of the game,\u201d wrote Edelman in the post. \u201cThey also support minor league youth baseball in Israel, and if you know anything about me, you know I lived for little league.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Hebrew on the cleats says\u00a0yalla<\/em>, which means, \u2018let\u2019s go,\u2019 because for the first time in the country\u2019s history, Israel is going to compete in baseball in the Olympics,\u201d he continued. \u201cBaseball has always been my second favorite sport, and I\u2019m pumped to see what those studs can do in Japan. Yalla!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Edelman scored a touchdown as the Chiefs defeated the Patriots, 23-16, ending New England\u2019s streak of 21 wins at home.<\/span><\/p>\n

Last year, Edelman wore customized cleats\u00a0honoring the 11 victims<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0of the Oct. 2018 shooting at Tree of Life*Or L\u2019Simcha Synagogue in Pittsburgh, as part of the \u201cMy Cause, My Cleats\u201d campaign.<\/span><\/p>\n
