American singer Lionel Richie performed his first concert in Israel on Monday night at Tel Aviv\u2019s Menora Mivtachim Arena.<\/span><\/p>\n

The \u201cAll Night Long\u201d singer, who began his 90-minute show an hour-and-a-half earlier than originally announced to avoid a conflict with Israel\u2019s third election day in a year, told the audience that he was happy to finally be in Israel.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMy friends have been trying to convince me to come for 40 years,\u201d said the 70-year-old. \u201cNow I know why.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

He added, \u201cThis is my first trip. It will not be my last.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

He also said the crowd was \u201camazing\u201d and spoke about the warm welcome by Israelis, who greet him by name on the street. Richie ended his gig by telling the audience, \u201cSee you next year!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Richie landed in Israel on Feb. 29 after performing in Dubai as part of his international \u201cHello\u201d tour.<\/span><\/p>\n
