Photo: Reuters \/ Ronen Zvulun \/ Pool.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Donald Trump\u2019s Middle East envoy said on Sunday the US president\u2019s push for an<span class=\"highlight\" data-qa-component=\"highlight-text\">\u00a0Israel<\/span>i-Arab rapprochement was gaining momentum and he hoped more accords would follow even if Trump loses next month\u2019s election.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Avi Berkowitz, who accompanied an<span class=\"highlight\" data-qa-component=\"highlight-text\">\u00a0Israel<\/span>i delegation which visited Bahrain on Sunday, said the Abraham Accords had bipartisan support in the United States and were designed to bear long-term fruit by encouraging grassroots engagement between<span class=\"highlight\" data-qa-component=\"highlight-text\">\u00a0Israel\u00a0<\/span>and its new Arab partners.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cPeace is something everybody should celebrate and see as a positive thing for the world,\u201d Berkowitz said in an interview. \u201cIt\u2019s our sincere hope that, no matter who wins the election, the Abraham Accords will continue to grow.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Bahrain followed the United Arab Emirates in agreeing last month to normalize ties with<span class=\"highlight\" data-qa-component=\"highlight-text\">\u00a0Israel<\/span>, angering Palestinians who had conditioned any such regional rapprochement on statehood, with East Jerusalem as capital of their independent state.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">The US administration has been racing against the clock to secure normalization deals for<span class=\"highlight\" data-qa-component=\"highlight-text\">\u00a0Israel<\/span>, in an effort to help Trump secure re-election in November.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">For US allies in the Middle East, it is a chance to close ranks on Iran more overtly.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">The flight carrying the<span class=\"highlight\" data-qa-component=\"highlight-text\">\u00a0Israel<\/span>i delegation flew over Saudi Arabia, an accommodation by the Gulf\u2019s powerhouse, which has so far resisted US appeals to normalize ties with<span class=\"highlight\" data-qa-component=\"highlight-text\">\u00a0Israel<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cThat is a decision for them to ultimately come to, our conversations with them have been positive on numerous fronts,\u201d Berkowitz said when asked about any Saudi plans to follow suit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201cWe look to them for an understanding in the region of the temperature of how things are going on numerous fronts, we\u2019ve had very good discussions with them but time will tell,\u201d he added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Berkowitz, US Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin and other officials will travel on Monday to the UAE, where the accord with<span class=\"highlight\" data-qa-component=\"highlight-text\">\u00a0Israel\u00a0<\/span>has opened up bilateral commerce.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr style=\"height: 15px;
