British television personality and veteran music producer Simon Cowell will be a judge on the upcoming fourth season of Israel\u2019s \u201cThe X Factor,\u201d it was announced on Wednesday.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOver the years we have discovered incredible talents from around the world through the \u2018X Factor\u2019 format. I can barely wait to see what the Israelis have to offer,\u201d said<\/a> the music mogul and creator of \u201cThe X Factor,\u201d whose father was Jewish.<\/span><\/p>\n

The new season will air on Reshet 13 <\/em>and in a statement the network <\/em>highlighted that \u201cthis is the first time Simon Cowell is coming to judge in a country outside of the US and Great Britain.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a huge achievement for Israeli TV,\u201d it noted.<\/span><\/p>\n

The network added that Cowell would help select his fellow judges for the new season of the show and a spokeswoman for Reshet 13<\/em> said filming was slated to begin in a few months, according to Variety<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cCowell is one of the biggest and most influential music figures in the world,\u201d said Reshet<\/em>, \u201cand his participation as a judge in the Israeli format provides an opportunity for international exposure for Israeli singers.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The third season of \u201cThe X Factor Israel\u201d was hosted by supermodel Bar Refaeli and aired on Channel 13<\/em> between October 2017 and January 2018.<\/span><\/p>\n

Past judges have included rapper Subliminal, pop star Ivri Lider, R&B singer Shiri Maimon and singer-songwriter Moshe Peretz.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cowell created the original version of \u201cThe X Factor\u201d for the UK and served as a judge for its first seven seasons before leaving to launch the US version of the show, which is now produced in 56 territories around the world.<\/span><\/p>\n

He was a judge on \u201cThe X Factor\u201d in the US for three seasons between 2011-13.<\/span><\/p>\n

The show did not air in the UK in 2020 for the first time in 16 years.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cowell also created \u201cBritain\u2019s Got Talent.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

He was replaced as a judge on \u201cAmerica\u2019s Got Talent\u201d earlier this year as he recovered from back surgery following an electric bike accident.<\/span><\/p>\n

He is also working on a new competition series for CBS<\/em> called \u201c50 States to Stardom,\u201d Deadline<\/em> revealed<\/a> in October.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
