Twitter users are accusing an Indian composer and singer of plagiarizing Israel\u2019s national anthem \u201cHatikvah\u201d for a song he composed in 1996, <\/em>India\u2019s news outlet NDTV<\/strong><\/span> <\/em><\/a>reported on Monday.<\/span><\/p>\n

After Israel\u2019s national anthem was played at the Tokyo Olympics on Sunday when Israeli gymnast Artem Dolgopyat was presented his gold medal, social media users noticed a similarity between the track and Anu Malik\u2019s Indian song \u201cMera Mulk Mera Desh\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/a> from the 1996 film \u201cDiljale.\u201d The \u201cIndian Idol\u201d judge, 60, is now being charged on Twitter with \u201ccopying\u201d and \u201cstealing\u201d the tune of \u201cHatikvah,\u201d which was composed in the 19th century and adopted as Israel\u2019s national anthem in 1948.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe National anthem tune has some familiarity to the Indian song.. Mera Mulk Mera Desh?? Or is it just me?\u201d wrote<\/a><\/strong><\/span> one Twitter user. Others noted the \u201cuncanny resemblance<\/strong><\/span>\u201d<\/a> between the two songs and while another said<\/a>: \u201cSo Anu Malik didn\u2019t spare even Israeli national anthem while copying tune for Diljale\u2019s Mera Mulk Mera Desh in 1996. Thanks to internet we now know this.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
