Whoopi Goldberg received pushback on Monday from her fellow co-hosts on \u201cThe View\u201d after repeatedly insisting on the morning talk show that the Holocaust was \u201cnot about race.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIf you\u2019re going to do this, then let\u2019s be truthful about it. The Holocaust isn\u2019t about race,\u201d Goldberg stated on air.<\/span><\/p>\n

The exchange came during a discussion on a Tennessee school district\u2019s decision<\/a><\/strong><\/span> to remove \u201cMaus,\u201d a Pulitzer Prize-winning graphic novel about the Holocaust, from its curriculum because of the book\u2019s \u201cinappropriate language\u201d and illustrated nudity.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m surprised that\u2019s what made you uncomfortable, the fact that there was some nudity,\u201d Goldberg said. \u201cI mean, it\u2019s about the Holocaust, the killing of 6 million people, but that didn\u2019t bother you?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

After co-host Ana Navarro brought up a Florida bill that could prevent conversations in schools that makes students feel uncomfortable about race or gender, Sunny Hostin wondered if Holocaust education could eventually be banned all together, Fox News<\/em> reported.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not about race,\u201d Goldberg then said about the Holocaust, before Joy Behar interrupted, telling the Oscar-winning actress that the Nazis \u201cconsidered Jews a different race.\u201d Goldberg again argued that Adolf Hitler\u2019s Final Solution was \u201cnot about race.\u201d She said, \u201cIt\u2019s about man\u2019s inhumanity to man. That\u2019s what it\u2019s about.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

When Navarro explained that the Holocaust was \u201cabout a white supremacist going after Jews and Gypsies,\u201d Goldberg said, \u201cBut these are two white groups of people.\u201d Her comment prompted co-host Sara Haines to point out that the Nazis \u201cdidn\u2019t see them as white,\u201d while Behar noted that the Nazis also targeted black people.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBut you\u2019re missing the point. You\u2019re missing the point,\u201d Goldberg argued. \u201cThe minute you turn it into race, it goes down this alley. Let\u2019s talk about it for what it is. It\u2019s how people treat each other. It\u2019s a problem. It doesn\u2019t matter if you\u2019re black, or white, cause black, white, Jews, Italians, everybody eats each other.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

She continued: \u201cSo is it \u2014 if you are uncomfortable if you hear about \u2018Maus,\u2019 should you be worried \u2014 should your child say, \u2018Oh my God, I wonder if that\u2019s me?\u2019 No. That\u2019s not what they\u2019re going to say. They\u2019re going to say, \u2018I don\u2019t want to be like that.\u2019 Most kids, they don\u2019t want to be cruel.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Navarro afterwards noted the outrage against those who compare COVID-19 vaccination cards to the yellow stars Jews were forced to wear by the Nazis, arguing, \u201cSo it is necessary for kids to learn about the Holocaust.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cTo learn about man\u2019s inhumanity to man, however it exposes itself,\u201d Goldberg added, before the show went to commercial break.<\/span><\/p>\n
