The Jewish non-profit Reboot announced on Tuesday that it has launched its own production company to use seed funding to help develop Jewish content in the arts.<\/span><\/p>\n

Reboot Studios will also provide creators with mentorship and resources to help further their projects, to include docuseries, plays, podcasts, books, films, theater, record albums, photography projects, digital and multimedia art.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cDriven by the belief that art influences our world, enriches our lives and has the power to educate, inspire, create movements and change the way we think, Reboot Studios will tell stories through a Jewish lens about the shared human experience,\u201d Reboot, which was founded in 2001, said on its\u00a0website.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Members of Reboot Studios\u2019 advisory board, who will help guide funded projects, include industry leaders from\u00a0Showtime<\/em>, Searchlight Pictures and\u00a0Amazon<\/em>; producers; production heads; and songwriters.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Jewish tradition is, at its heart, a storytelling tradition,\u201d said David Kohan, a Reboot Studios investor and the co-creator of the former television show \u201cWill & Grace.\u201d He added, \u201cWhat Reboot Studios aims to do is continue this tradition of storytelling, but instead of stories, they call it content, and instead of stone tablets or parchment, they use every type of media platform that exists in 2022.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Past works funded by Reboot include \u201cSaturday Night Seder,<\/strong><\/span>\u201d<\/a>\u00a0a virtual 2020 Passover production that raised $3.5 million for the CDC Foundation\u2019s Coronavirus Emergency Response Fund, and the launch of the\u00a0HBO<\/em>\u00a0film \u201cThe Survivor<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Reboot Studios\u2019 current projects include the \u201cBoom,\u201d a film adaptation of the memoir \u201cI Had a Brother Once,\u201d by\u00a0New York Times<\/em>\u00a0bestselling author Adam Mansbach. The screenplay is about a rapper\u2019s growing relationship to Judaism on the first anniversary of his brother\u2019s suicide.<\/span><\/p>\n

The company is also working on a scripted television series called \u201cTribe,\u201d inspired by true events about a historically Black university in Jim Crow-era Baltimore that sponsored a Jewish professor in danger of being deported back to Nazi Germany.<\/span><\/p>\n

Reboot\u2019s network of creators now consists of more than 650 Jewish (and \u201cJew-ish\u201d) influencers, its website says, including creatives behind \u201cThe Office\u201d and \u201cOrange is the New Black\u201d; Broadway stars from \u201cDear Evan Hansen,\u201d \u201cLa La Land,\u201d and \u201cRent\u201d; and others in tech, media, and non-profits.<\/span><\/p>\n
