Fortunately,\u00a0no irreversible damage was done to the antiquities at the site, according to the Israel Nature and Parks Authority (INPA).<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"fake-br-for-article-body\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Yet, Prime Minister Yair Lapid, Construction and Housing Minister Ze&#8217;ev Elkin and Tourism Minister Yoel Razbozov have all pitched in from the budgets of their respective ministries&#8217; for the restoration of the archaeological site.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">In the aftermath of the fire, INPA Sharon regional director Roee Shtrauss called for the restoration and conservation of Tel Gezer. &#8220;We will need to restore and clean the antiquities which have been burnt, but we need to do a more thorough study of the situation in order to better determine what needs to be done,&#8221; he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.jpost.com\/image\/upload\/f_auto,fl_lossy\/t_JD_ArticleMainImageFaceDetect\/509249\" width=\"100%\" \/><span style=\"color: #808080;\"><em>Hundreds of dunams of the Tel Gezer National Park were destroyed by a fire started by a pruning fire at a neighboring moshav. (credit: Israel Fire Department)<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Shtrauss assembled a restoration and conservation team to assess the damage to some of Tel Gezer&#8217;s most important\u00a0<a style=\"color: #000080;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/in-jerusalem\/israels-stonehenge-543260\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">archaeological findings<\/a>, including the ancient Caananite water system of Gezer.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"fake-br-for-article-body\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Gezer was a prominent fortified Canaanite city-state in the Middle Bronze Age.
