\u201cA lie can travel halfway around the world before the truth can get its boots on.\u201d<\/strong><\/h4>\n

This quote \u2014 frequently attributed to American writer Mark Twain, but traced back to satirist Jonathan Swift \u2014 perfectly encapsulates the reaction to reports that an explosion at the Jabaliya camp in Gaza during Operation Breaking Dawn, left several children dead.<\/span><\/p>\n

Many of the\u00a0first reports<\/a>\u00a0from Gaza claimed that the bloodshed was the result of an Israeli strike.<\/span><\/p>\n

The IDF, however, acted immediately and released a statement that confirmed it had not targeted its airpower anywhere in the vicinity at the time of the blast.<\/span><\/p>\n

Later, both\u00a0video<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0radar<\/a>\u00a0evidence was published online that showed the carnage was in fact caused by a misfired rocket shot by\u00a0Palestinian Islamic Jihad<\/a>\u00a0(PIJ) terrorists.<\/span><\/p>\n

As early as Saturday night \u2014 mere minutes after the explosion \u2014 a widely circulated\u00a0video<\/a>\u00a0of the rocket showed that it was launched from inside the coastal enclave before sharply turning and losing altitude.<\/span><\/p>\n

Yet, the initial media reports buried the IDF\u2019s statement, and ignored the video that was available online.<\/span><\/p>\n
