Iran has \u201cspecially designed\u201d a drone capable of attacking Israel\u2019s largest coastal cities, an Iranian general said on Monday.<\/span><\/p>\n

The suicide drone was identified by Brigadier General Kioumars Heydari, who commands the ground forces of the Iranian army, as \u201cArash 2\u201d during a television interview, Iran\u2019s Mehr News Agency<\/em> reported.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHe noted that [the] drone was specially designed for attacking Haifa and Tel Aviv, adding that it is a unique drone made for that purpose,\u201d the semi-official outlet added.<\/span><\/p>\n

The comments come amid doubts<\/a> over the possible revival of the 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and world powers. Iranian officials \u2014 from Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on down \u2014 have repeatedly threatened to attack Tel Aviv and Haifa to deter action by Israel, which has pledged to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon. In June, Heydari said<\/a> Iran \u201cwill raze Tel Aviv and Haifa to the ground by the order of the supreme leader\u201d should Israel make \u201cany mistake.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Also on Monday, Israel\u2019s deputy foreign minister, Idan Roll, who is in Berlin as part of Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid\u2019s delegation to the country, spoke with Olta Xha\u00e7ka, foreign minister of Albania, which severed diplomatic ties with Iran on Wednesday. The rupture came after Iran carried out a cyberattack in July that temporarily disabled some Albanian government services, according to the Balkan country \u2014 a charge Tehran denies.<\/span><\/p>\n

On Saturday, Albania reported a second cyberattack from \u201cthe same aggressors.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Roll said he expressed \u201cappreciation\u201d for Albania\u2019s decision in his discussion with Xha\u00e7ka, \u201cand offered to share our knowledge and experience in cyber defense.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
