Many people remain in the dark about the true nature of Zionism, relying instead on false soundbites which often promote a viciously anti-Israel agenda. The word “Zionism” has been turned into an insult, distorted and abused by anti-Israel zealots. Many people now view it as a word that represents oppression and subjugation.

“Zionist” is also as a convenient synonym used by anti-Semites to mask their hatred for Jews. But this isn’t what Zionism is about, at all.

Luke Akehurst, who serves as director of “We Believe in Israel” and is not Jewish, explains what the word really means and why Jews and non-Jews alike should be proud to call themselves Zionists.
