1) Violence escalated in and around the Gaza Strip overnight and this morning, when Palestinian Islamists launched a barrage of more than 30 rockets from the Palestinian enclave towards Israel’s southern communities.
2) The deteriorating health of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has reportedly emboldened members of the Islamist Hamas organization, with its leadership in Gaza vowing to raise the flag of Islam above the Palestinian Authority’s headquarters in Ramallah and in all the districts of the West Bank.
3) The United States announced its intention to quit the United Nations Human Rights Council, a decision, which according to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and US Ambassador to the world body Nikki Haley “stemmed from the council’s protection of Human Rights abusers and a clear bias against Israel.”
