Fortune 500 Company Boycotts Glasgow Over Palestinian Flag

VP cancels six-day trip to Scottish city after its council flies PLO flag ‘in solidarity with Gaza.’

Six hundred Americans have decided to boycott Glasgow – but this time, the move is in support and solidarity for Israel.

A Fortune 500 company was due to bring the American delegation into the city – as well as thousands of dollars of tourist revenue – as a reward for the salesmen and women and their spouses, according to the Scottish Express. However, the Vice President of the corporation, Richard Cassini, cancelled the trip entirely after Glasgow’s city council decided to fly Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO, or the terror umbrella group behind the Palestinian Authority) flags in “solidarity with the people of Gaza.”

“I was, until I read the article in the Scottish Express, and substantiated by the press all over the world, spearheading an event in Glasgow for 600 business visitors to be guests of your wonderful city,” Cassini wrote to Glasgow’s Lord Provost, Sadie Docherty. “We were scheduling six days in Glasgow, three for business and three for leisure time.”

“Having read your statement endorsing Hamas and its leadership due to the number of Muslims in your city, I have decided to cancel all plans for our trip,” he continued. “We are a Fortune 500 Company, so costs were really not a serious consideration, location was.”

“Hopefully, the Muslim population that you so sincerely endorse will have the spending power of the very people you have chased away so well,” he concluded.

Over 1,500 emails and calls have been sent to the Glasgow City Council over the move, according to a spokeswoman, and the council claims that a delay in responses is due to the need to respond to each complaint individually. But Cassini has taken Docherty to task for not responding to the move, several days after the trip was cancelled, and sent her a follow-up email firing, “It appears that being Provost of a wonderful city such as Glasgow does not require the holder of said title to have any manners, or upbringing whatsoever.”

Councilor Archie Graham eventually responded, stating that “Glasgow utterly abhors and rejects any forms of discrimination, including anti-Semitism and Islamophobia.” However, silence continues from Docherty herself, who elected to fly the flag on August 8. Glasgow is “twinned” with the PA city of Bethlehem.

“Glasgow is home to many friends of Palestine and this is a deeply distressing time for them,” Docherty said at the time. “They represent a variety of ethnicities, political persuasions, faiths and none. However they are united by a common desire to support the Palestinian people.”

“In solidarity with Bethlehem and Palestine, Glasgow City Council will raise the Palestinian flag on Friday 8th August,” she continued. “We hope that peace can be found to ensure the human rights for the people of Palestine.”

Jewish leaders condemned the gesture, with Jewish Representative Council President Paul Morron saying that “flying the flag is the worst kind of gesture politics” and noting that it “does nothing to alleviate the suffering on either side of the conflict.”

The Guardian rejects Dershowitz ad on ‘human shields’ in Gaza

The Guardian rejects Dershowitz ad on ‘human shields’ in Gaza

Harvard University professor, whose ad questioned claims that Gaza is one of the most densely populated areas in the world, accuses paper of anti-Israel bias.

Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz

The British Guardian newspaper rejected an ad written by Harvard University Law Professor Alan Dershowitz, JNS.org reported over the weekend.

The ad, titled “The Empty Spaces in Gaza,” counters the claims that Gaza is “one of the most densely populated areas in the world,” and is based on a an article of the same name that Dershowitz wrote earlier this month for the Gatestone Institute.

“The fact that these sparsely populated areas exist in the Gaza Strip raises several important moral questions,” Dershowitz wrote: “Why don’t the media show the relatively open areas of the Gaza Strip? … Why doesn’t Hamas use sparsely populated areas from which to launch its rockets and build its tunnels?” and “Why does the United Nations try to shelter Palestinian civilians right in the middle of the areas from which Hamas is firing?” The article ends with a call to the international community to enforce international law against Hamas and put a stop to the use of civilians as human shields.

After the ad was rejected, Dershowitz was quoted by JNS.org as saying that “The Guardian, which holds itself out to be a purveyor of diverse truth, clearly reflects a bias against Israel on its editorial pages, as well as in its presentation of the news. Now that bias has spread to the advertising pages.”

A spokesman for the newspaper told JNS.org that “The Guardian reserves the right to reject any advertisement.”

Last week, The Guardian agreed to run an advertisement accusing Hamas of “child sacrifice” as another British newspaper, The Times, came under fire for refusing to print it.

The ad, written by Nobel prize-winning author Elie Wiesel, calls on U.S. President Barack Obama and other world leaders to condemn Hamas’ “use of children as human shields.”

On Saturday, British newspaper The Jewish Chronicle apologized for running an advertisement for a charity raising funds for the crisis in Gaza.

The weekly paper said running the ad for the Disasters Emergency Committee’s Gaza Crisis Appeal was “meant as a purely humanitarian gesture.”

Palestinian Hamas supporters hold Hamas flags. Nablus, May 15, 2014.Of the near 100 operatives arrested since May, 46 have been transferred to Shin Bet for questioning; defense sources estimate cost of arms and ammunition at several million shekels.

The Shin Bet security service has interrogated 46 Hamas operatives in the West Bank over the past three months on suspicion of setting up a network of cells to commit attacks against Israel and to carry out a coup of the Palestinian Authority.

Altogether, 93 Hamas members have been arrested since May for alleged involvement in this network, but only 46 have been transferred to the Shin Bet for questioning.

As a result of the arrests and interrogations, the Shin Bet, police and Israel Defense Forces have seized some 600,000 shekels ($171,000); 24 rifles, mostly M-16s; six pistols; seven rocket launchers; and a large quantity of ammunition. Defense sources estimated the cost of the arms and ammunition at several million shekels.

The head of the network was Riad Nasser, 38, of Deir Kadis near Ramallah. Nasser did jail time in Israel in the past for his Hamas activities, then was rearrested in late 2013 and put under administrative detention. The Shin Bet began questioning him in May, and says that Nasser told his interrogators he was recruited to reestablish Hamas’ military infrastructure in the West Bank back in 2010.

Nasser was recruited by Saleh Arori, who did 16 years in an IDF prison and was subsequently deported, the Shin Bet says. Aruri now lives in Turkey.

According to the Shin Bet, Nasser’s assignment was to undermine the West Bank’s stability and “even spark a third intifada.” To this end, he set up Hamas cells in towns throughout the West Bank, and also in Jerusalem.

Many of the cell members were recruited by local Hamas leaders in these towns; these recruiters included several former Israeli prisoners. An emphasis was put on recruiting people who had studied chemistry or engineering.

The Shin Bet says the cells were also planning to topple the PA. Nevertheless, they don’t seem to have progressed far toward that goal. Up to the time of their arrest, their efforts were focused mainly on acquiring arms and recruiting additional members, and the numbers of both they managed to obtain are minuscule compared to the thousands of men and thousands of rifles in the PA security services.

The network also had a branch in Jordan, headed by another former Israeli prisoner, Oudeh Zaharan, 54. The Shin Bet says Zaharan served as a liaison between the West Bank cells and Hamas officials overseas. The latter transferred hundreds of thousands of dollars to the West Bank cells for use in purchasing arms and safe houses; some of these houses were also meant to serve as rocket manufactories.

A senior Shin Bet official said the network was arrested before it could commit any attacks. He added that Khaled Meshal, the Qatar-based head of Hamas’ political bureau, was aware of the effort to establish the cells, and said Israel had briefed both the PA and Jordan on the findings of the investigation.

Other key members of the network included Salah Barakat, a 35-year-old Israeli citizen and Jerusalem resident, and Dr. Majdi Mafarja, 32, who was recruited in Malaysia. Mafarja has a doctorate in computer science, specializing in encryption and cyber warfare.

Koszulki Hwear (Zdjecie: HealthWatch)

Można też wrzucić tę specjalną koszulkę do prania razem z resztą ubrań.

HealthWatch pokazał swoją linię hWear – odzieży z 15-odprowadzeniowymi czujnikami EKG – na niedawnym dorocznym spotkaniu American Telemedicine Association. Taka odzież pozwala lekarzom i personelowi opieki zdrowotnej śledzić stan serca na odległość, bez potrzeby podczepiania pacjenta do mierzących pracę serca urządzeń w gabinecie lekarskim.

EHealth, TeleHealth, mHealth i przemysł tele-kardiologiczny mogą teraz udzielać telemonitoringu o jakości, jaką mają oddziały opieki intensywnej i to bez zakłócania normalnego stylu życia użytkowników.

„Tworzymy odzież do przenośnej technologii – powiedział Amir.

Przywódcy Państwa Islamskiego, wg “Time’a”, rozważali jej zniszczenie w celu zalania Bagdadu.
